Lustre buffer cache causes large system overhead.
...ck to normal with a run time at 150 secs.
I''ve created an infographic from our ganglia graphs for the above scenario.
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/23468442/misc/lustre_bc_overhead.png
Attached is an excerpt from perf top indicating that the kernel routine taking
the most time is _spin_lock_irqsave if that means anything to anyone.
Things tested:
It does not seem to matter if we mount lustre over infiniband or ethernet.
Filling the buffer cache with files from an NFS filesystem does not degrade
performance.
Filling the buffer cache with one large file does not give degraded performance....

Dmesg log for 2.6.31-rc8 kernel been built on F12 (rawhide) vs log for same kernel been built on F11 and installed on F12
Previous 2.6.31-rc8 kernel was built on F11 and installed with modules on F12.
Current kernel has been built on F12 (2.6.31-0.204.rc9.fc12.x86_64) and installed
on F12 before loading under Xen 3.4.1.
Dmesg log looks similar to Michael Yuong''s ''rc7.git4'' kernel for F12.

DomU (Centos 5) with dedicated e1000 (intel) device dropping packets
Hello everybody,
I''ve finished with pci export from DomU to Dom0 (Debian Etch) but now i
have a new problem, and a big one.
My ethernet card is dropping packets but after some time (i can''t tell
how)
It can work for a day (not in production so not hard tested) and then
all packets are dropped.
Look at the ifconfig output :

Maintain VNC session across reboots?
Hello,
I have Ubuntu installed as a domU on the debian dom0, and connect via VNC
in dom0. This is great for doing installs, and seeing the console
output. However
the VNC session doesn''t seem to keep the active connection during a domU reboot.
Has anyone got this working?
If so, how?

Panic on boot on Sun Blade 6270
Hi All,
I''m getting the attached panic in the hypervisor on a Sun 6270 running
xen-testing.hg changeset 19913:6063c16aeeaa. I can run xen-3.3.1 from
the standard SLES 11 distribution (which says that it''s changeset
18546 but it has many patches). Any ideas?
thanks,
dan
