The true merit of non-memory based session stores
...either a custom serialization scheme for the model in question (or a custom caching mechanism so that I can store my attribute in memory). When I first read that the in - memory storage method was frowned upon, I was surprised, because in my experience, only some e-commerce shopping cart apps _sometimes_ handle session persistence. Anyone have any thoughts on the validity of using an in-memory session store? Obviously, it''s much faster as well. Thanks, Wes -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

udev by-id symlinks randomly missing for tape drives on centos5
...00 tape library connected with 2 drives in it.. so /proc/scsi/scsi shows 3 devices: 2 tape drives, and 1 medium changer (tape library). So I should have 3 symlinks in /dev/tape/by-id/ directory.. 2 symlinks to tape drives, and 1 symlink to mediumchanger/tapelibrary. Running 'udevtrigger' _sometimes_ creates the missing links, and sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes if all the symlinks are there to begin with, and you run 'udevtrigger', some of the tape drive symlinks might get removed too.. The symlink for the mediumchanger seems to be there always though.. Has anyone seen this be...

mfrow is ignored by some plots
...sing mfrow or mfcol to subdivide the plot window. I found one related message, an answer from Deepayan Sarkar to a question about lattice graphics, but that shed no light on this problem. If I invoke par(mfrow=c(2,2)) and run radial.plot a few times, the plots appears in the upper left corner. _Sometimes_ the second plot appears in the upper right corner once, but then returns to the upper left. If I invoke par(new=TRUE), the plots appear in the lower right corner. For instance, the following just keeps writing the plots in the upper left. par(mfrow=c(2,2)) radial.plot(rnorm(7),0:6,line.col=&quo...

isolinux failing on serial console
Hi, I have a problem with isolinux failing to boot a kernel whenever I navigate and trigger the menu via serial console. My test machine is a DL585 G2, with iLO2. Navigating and booting the kernels off of the video console works 100% of the time. With the serial connection however, I _sometimes_ get a "menu.c32: not a COM32R image" error. Sometime it works fine. I suspect the serial connection is sending extra characters. I tried running wireshark from my local pc, enabled telnet on the iLO2 GUI, and did some packet captures. However I don't have an idea of how it looks like...

associations question
Hello, I have a People table and a Addresses table. A person can have one or more addresses, but should at least have one, so there is a address_id field in People. Now, I would like to have a form to fill the name of a new person and its address from the same place. I could use person.address.country, for example (it works), but I would like to simply use person.country for some reasons

Mystifying SEGFAULT on 3.2.3 but not 3.2.2
Dear R developers, (Apologies about previous incomplete e-mail, I fat-fingered a keyboard shortcut)?? I recently upgraded to 3.2.3 and am getting mystifying errors with my in-development code (available at https://github.com/gertvv/gemtc/tree/feature/regression). Every few hundred LPs that I solve using the rcdd package will result in a SEGFAULT in the garbage collector (address 0x10, cause

Samba4 winbind and .gvfs share mounting in Nautilus problem
...own /home folder. When I log in, my /home folder is correctly mounted automatically: gvfs-fuse-daemon on /home/CACTUS/steve/.gvfs type fuse.gvfs-fuse-daemon (rw,nosuid,nodev,user=CACTUS\steve2) When I attempt to access another share by e.g. smb://server/reports (or any other share) The share is _sometimes_ mounted and works _almost_ (*) as expected, but normally the process hangs with top showing gvfs taking up the top 10 slots and consuming 99% CPU. How to remove packages from the active working window
Hi all mailing listers, My question is as follows: e.g. I launched two packages, say packageA and packageB, but they have the function of the same name, leading to masking. I want to remove the packageA from the working window after using the packageA so as not to causing problem. I do not want to carry out task each time using packageA and packageB individually because many the tasks share

Downgrading to 3.2.2 works, but *only* after | completely removing my local R packages and re-installing them. We try try chase this, and when we do batch runs of R CMD check over all reverse depends we end up rebuilding. I was just bitten by this when upgrading to Ubuntu 15.10 as it brings in g++-5.2 which has a _known_ ABI transition for C++11/14. About 15...

XP "logon failure" but still logs on -- no roaming profile

Question about "generic" USB <=> Serial Port kernel drivers...
OK, I am running CentOS 6 on my Laptop and Desktop, presently kernel version 2.6.32-696.20.1.el6.x86_64 (yes, a version or so out of date -- I'll probably do an update soon -- non-trivial since my Internet connection is via dialup). I recently bought a couple of Adafruit Arduino compatibles, a Flora and a Metro 328. Hooking up the Flora and the Metro to a Raspberry Pi running Raspbian

strange behavior from cex="*"
Someone inquired on StackOverflow about apparently non-deterministic graphics behaviour in R. I noticed that they were using cex="*" and discovered some potentially weird behavior. On repeated runs of the same code I can get different PNGs. If I set the number of runs high enough, I seem to be able to get R to hang. If I do a single version plotting to an interactive graphics

IOW, if the boot fails, the user would receive a suggestion to change from "KERNEL" to "LINUX" and test again (because it _sometimes_ can help, when the size of kernel/initrd files is really "big"), so let's avoid such step and change it already. Also, since you mentioned some kind of "menu" before, please note that my proposed "EFI/BOOT/syslinux.cfg" file would not present any boot menu (AT...
