Win32 and Backing up open files

privleges were enabled (backup and restore were enabled), a program
under Windows can _NOT_ open a file which has been opened if the
original opener has not specified read sharing. No matter what.
A much more careful reading of the docs indicates that backup semantics
only allow you to bypass _security_ restrictions, not sharing
restrictions (as well as allowing access to security information about
the file).
I can't believe it. This means that most backups under Windows are
completely useless unless programs avoid opening a file without
SHARE_READ.

Administrativia: Documentation project slightly on hold (sorry!)

questions@ noise again.
The others should be considered carefully, but (eg) if someone wrote a
HOWTO and posted it here for review, it would be on-topic as long as it
was a _security_ HOWTO. Markup issues are off-topic and irrelevant to
this list.
The choice of actual markup will be chosen later, but you can't go far
wrong if you use DocBook or DocBook/XML. Whatever you use for your
document, be prepared to modify the markup, so the safest may be plain
ole ASCII.

[PATCH][RFC] Support more Capability Structures and Device Specific
I am submitting the patch which supports more Capability Structures
and Device Specific Registers for passthrough device.
In Xen 3.3 unstable, qemu-dm supports Configuration Header, MSI
Capability Structure, and MSI-X Capability Structure. But qemu-dm does
not support PCI Express Capability Structure, Device Specific
Registers, etc (writing them is ignored).
