Unable to add computer to domain
Dear Expert,
Pls help, I am in the progress implementing Samba as LDAP as PDC on FC5, I
followed the instruction of "samba3-ldap-howto", now I am unable to add
computer to domain..
Tried to check /var/log/samba and found the following:

directory I can see it trying to add a workstation user with the original
computer name of the sysprep'd computer:

can't join to a domain... can_add_account is returning false
I have just set up a domain and am trying to join a machine to it.
When i watch the log i see

samba as a pdc problems

b - when trying to add a new user:
Windows error: "The user name could not be found". The log file showed:

When i try to join a domain i get this error:

cannot join to domain
...domain using root, I get a dialog box
with the following message
The following error occurred attempting to join the domain "domain name":
The user name could not be found.
When I looked inside /var/log/samba/log.hp-laptop I found this

Adding machine to domain fails - check permissions? (ldap)

Still having samba join domain problems
...main using the "root" account the Windows XP PC
comes back with "The following error occurred attempting to join the domain
"SUNDEV"; The user name could not be found".
In the smbd log (at level 10) this is all I get:

impossible to join domain - smbldap-useradd -w "%u" is buggy
...looking like this:
add machine script = /usr/sbin/smbldap-useradd -w "%u"
This is the command that Samba executes when an unregistered machine
account tries to connect to it. But does it work? NO. Check

Machine account setup fail
...I did this
last year with 2.2. I need a PDC and roaming profiles. Problem is I
can't join the domain with my lone test PC running NT4. I am getting
a message saying that the machine account cant be established. Her
is the log data;

CentOS 5: problem with samba as PDC
...39;m unable to add new computer to domain except with the root users.
With others installations all users in the group "Domain Admins" was
able, now i get tis error:

join domain - ou=people searched for machine accounts?
...arch is triggered
with a base "ou=people", nothing is found, and the error
occurs.
As workaround, I used smbldap-useradd without the "-w". The
entry
is created under "ou=people", and the join is finished
sucessfully.
