NEWBIE: Package Requirements List?
I can't seem to find a succinct listing of the packages (and optional packages) required to compile dovecot. I see references to various RDBMS's, but nothing that says I actually _require_ one, etc. I see references to openssl, but similarly, I don't see that it's technically required. Is there a link I'm missing that indicates the pre-conditions (pre-installed/configured software) before compiling and linking dovecot? Thanks in advance! -AJ -------------- next part --...

Joining a DC, was (no subject)
...; the UPN. It appears from the Microsoft documentation that the suffixes (multiple allowed) provide a mapping to the UPN, rather than change it, and one of the named security benefits is to hide the actual UPN. In any case, it also appears that many newer MS products, e.g. Azure, Outlook 2016, etc. _require_ the login name to match the e-mail address. Please look at this again before committing to the documentation change, which seems to diverge from the goal of making SAMBA work like a Windows AD DC. Here are some MS documents (contemporaneous with document linked in documentation prior to this chang...

idmap & migration to rfc2307
...important is the central auth db. If the IDs on the various DCs and members in the domain do not have the same sets of unix IDs, then nevertheless - local login will work. - ssh login will work. - rsync will work if not using --numeric-ids. - cifs mount will work. What else does one need that would _require_ identical ids? All member servers could even have the same IDs by rfc attributes (or an ldap or rid idmap config). > I know that AD was a microsoft invention, but this doesn't make > it a bad idea :-) and whilst Samba needs to be compatible with > microsoft AD, there is no reason why...

tcltk question
Is there any requirement for TclTk support for R? When I tried to call the tcltk library, it failed with the following message: > library(tcltk) Error in firstlib(which.lib.loc, package) : Tcl/Tk support is not available on this system Error in library(tcltk) : .First.lib failed for 'tcltk' The system information is as follows: Linux osirus.tgen.org 2.6.9-42.0.10.ELsmp #1

Re: Mini-centOS -- "Thin Clients" and lack of read-only boot
...using a PXE boot, although local installation is an option. Long story short, Microsoft has _never_ produced a "consumer" Windows product, not DOS7 "Chicago" nor NT, that is "read-only" bootable. That's been a major limitation of DOS/NT versus UNIX systems, they _require_ the filesystem to be "read/write" during the boot process. Most of this is due to the more "consumer" libraries designed for DOS7 "Chicago" Windows (9x/Me). At the most they've created an ultra-light Win32 kernel with just enough to RDesktop out of a EEPROM. But...

Snapshot won't configure on SunOS 5.3
R-crew, I'm trying to install the R-Snapshot which I downloaded a few hours ago and I'm having a problem I can't trace. My system is Sun SPARC, SunOS 5.3 : 1996 >From running ./configure:*************************************** loading cache ./config.cache checking for a BSD compatible install... /opt/local/R/R-snapshot/etc/install-sh -c checking whether ln -s works... yes

How to do a meta-analysis plot
Dear R-list, I'd like to do a meta-analysis plot similar to install.packages('rmeta') require(rmeta) data(catheter) a <- meta.MH(n.trt, n.ctrl, col.trt, col.ctrl, data=catheter, names=Name, subset=c(13,6,5,3,7,12,4,11,1,8,10,2)) summary(a) plot(a) (see attached file) by using my own OR (Odds Ratio) and 95% Confidence Interval data set, which looks like

rdoc, ri and gems
Hi all, I''ve been going over the chapters on RDOC and gems lately. I think we should probably work on making the code in Win32Utils "rdoc" friendly. I''ve started doing this with ''win32-ipc'' as an experiment. This probably means some directory reorganization, because I think gems looks for extensions in an ''ext'' directory, whereas
