Offtopic Posts [was Re: [OT] Memory Models and Multi/Virtual-Cores -- WAS: 4.0 -> 4.1 update failing]
...t was going to have to go _deep_ before it would end.
Now I've said my peace for the last time. I promise I will not
repeat something more than once -- at the most, making only a
2nd post to "clarify" and if I didn't do a "good enough job" by then,
I'll leave it be _regardless_.
Your opinion is noted. But also note that someone else insinuated
there was only *1* troll. I like holding everyone to the same standard.

Now you're mixing things.
The GPL does _not_ address binaries, just what is required -- availability
of source, and no restrictions on that source for things that are required
for that source to work -- _regardless_ of what is redistributed.
It also states that you can't use GPL source with someone non-GPL
that requires it to function. Trademarks do not. The software functions
the same regardless whether or not you have the trademark.

running centos 4 for the past 6 months without any
problem with regular update. Now, I have to reboot
whenever it shows signs of a non-response. It starts
to exhibit this behaviour a cople of days ago. I could
not figure it out the reason and need

Opteron in 32-bit mode
I'm spec-ing a development server for some Haskell hackers. In
particular, they need to be able to build and run the Glasgow Haskell
Compiler (ghc), the x86_64 port of which isn't quite there yet.
My current thought is to get an Opteron-based system, but load it
(initially, at least) with the 32-bit i386 version of CentOS. That buys
me near-term ghc compatibility. In the future,
