_really_ disable netbios
I have disabled NetBIOS over TCP/IP on our network, both for
Windows and for Samba hosts.
Samba hosts have these directives in their smb.conf
disable netbios = yes
smb ports = 445
But I still see NetBIOS broadcasts and responses coming from Samba hosts,
probably because they are still running nmbd.
Can I just shut nmbd down or does it still have use?
Thanks,
Pim

--skip-gl-yield
Beryl has a --skip-gl-yield ( I think now managed by --force-nvidia,
dont really know though), that eases the use of beryl under heavy CPU
load.
Is this implemented in compiz? Cause compiz is _REALLY_ slow under heavy
cpu use for me.
Thanks,
Joel

Such a nice codec! Soundcard recommendations?
Wow! Ogg is sounding _really_ fine these days. Waaaay past my
ability to tell from CD on my crappy sound card, even at pretty low
bitrates. Which leads to my question: there's a huge difference
between what my sound card puts out and what my CD player can do

Hi Tom,
I''m using Debian Sarge with kernel 2.6.8-10 and Shorewall 2.0.10-2 which
are both standard packages with Sarge. Do you have any new information
regarding RoadWarrior configurations? Patching the kernel is something
that I would _really_ like to avoid if possible.

Samba 4.2 extremely slow with (some) XP & Seven boxes
...827141 is relevant … we've seen similiar symptoms,
recompiling samba and friends with the patch mentioned there restored
the behaviour we got with pre-badlock 4.1.17. it boils down to winbind
not re-using signed&sealed connections when pulling user information
from the ad, which seems to be _really_ expensive.

This has been discussed a few times on list I think. I believe the
issue here is that you need the client end of the connection to timeout
AFTER the server end of the connection. Setting this to arbitrarily
large numbers will not do anything (afaik) b/c the server wil...

[LLVMdev] [PATCH] parallel loop metadata
...ought to be "obeyed unless impossible". In particular, the LLVM backend is designed to be usable in routine production, which means that certain kinds of very expensive performance optimization will be unfeasible to be integrated. So I'd like at least a way to say "this is what I _really_ want the vectorizer to assume" in such metadata.

suppose after a morning full of various system problems I'm overly
happy have something that works and does just what I want it to.
This is useful for checking to see how much bandwidth a codec
_really_ uses, or seeing what your total usage is between two IAX
hosts, or pretty much anything that requires live examination of
ethernet segment traffic.

hints on KVM switches w/ X
Has anyone got hints on using KVM switches with XFree86? I'm using a wheel
mouse and moused, but something gets out of whack when I switch away then back
to X. Next time I touch the mouse, all sorts of weird things happen for a
fraction of a second, then the mouse starts working OK. This is annoying and
dangerous because it often winds up pasting random stuff into xterms.....

- Problem with linux distribution ?
Nope, got 2 different distributions and happens on both ?
- Bug with mpg123 ?
Nope, used native Asterisk moh thing, still happens.
- Memory leak due to a loop in my configuration ?
Nope, 3 diffrent configurations, 2 of them are _really_ simple (like 3

Since I'm no programmer and not really a bug-hunter I'm out of idea's

I'm actually fairly nervous about using inheritance this way. I know
it's done like this all over LLVM but the Template Method pattern is
often better. You don't _really_ need dynamic polymorphism for things
like this. Static polymorphism is sufficient and it has the advantage
of more flexibility for reuse (doesn't depend on a specific base class).
For example, if I'm writing a register allocator, one way to do what
you're saying without inheritance is...

courier mail for Centos
Are there existing rpms for courier mta?
I am working from:

And am making progress with postfix and mysql, but looking ahead to
other steps. I see squirrelmail is in EPEL.

(off topic) Re: Notepad
...d doesn't do search and replace
Not on my NT4.0 system: I can do search/replace.
It's true that NotePad is not so bad for someone who starts with R, and I
used it during some time (and still does). But I recently discovered ESS
with XEmacs on a Solaris machine, and I must admit that it is _really_
different. After all, it would be good for a beginner to have the features
of ESS (syntax highlitning, buffer execution, automatic indentation, ...)
rather than waiting to be experienced with R. (I seem to remember that the
R-FAQ recommends ESS.)

Please e-mail (not only post) the Forum Instructions URL
Am I just blind, or are there no links to the instructions, e.g. the
Search syntax or how to get back to a thread I started on RoR?
Or do those links, buttons, whatever only show / work in IE?
Thanks for any help; sorry if I can''t figure out something I should be
able to.

I was hoping that the rebuilt won't change the sha's and noone will
notice anything (well, except those who already branched out of
branches / tags).
But it seems that after rebuild stuff was changed (I really dunno,
why). So, we'll go

Just to be clear: we _really_ do not want all the sha's to change for trunk.

[LLVMdev] Bug in LowerIntrinsics::PerformDefaultLowering ?
Hi,
I noticed that in line 288-289 of lib/CodeGen/GCStrategy.cpp there is a
loop:
> for (Function::iterator BB = F.begin(), E = F.end(); BB != E; ++BB) {
> for (BasicBlock::iterator II = BB->begin(), E = BB->end();
> II != E;) {
E is used both for F.end() and for BB->end(). Is this intended?

...h for F.end() and for BB->end(). Is this intended?
Note that it's also being declared in the for header, so the inner E is shadowing the outer E (ie, they're separate variables). So it's not wrong per se, although I always compile with -Wshadow because problems when this happens are _really_ nasty to track down.

[LLVMdev] Using C++'11 language features in LLVM itself

That's _really_ unfortunate. I've found range-based for gets one
thinking a different way about how to present data. The range concept
tends to propagate and lots of potential bug sites get cleaned up. It
can be done incrementally with no problem, but the exercise of
converting a class to provide a range in...
