Monitoring _real_ CPU utilization
Is there any way to monitor the _real_ CPU utilization for a given
xen installation?
I have a 4x dual-core AMD system running 10 domU''s, and I''m not sure
if I''m overloading or under-utilizing the hardware.
I''ve been using xentop to see how much virtual cpu each domU (and
dom0) is consuming, bu...

_real_ browsing problem...
Hi all,
we got a very difficult browsing problem here at the college of German
Telecom at Dieburg. We have been trying to get browsing working at our student
quarters for about three semesters now, re-reading the BROWSING.TXT file for
XX times and spending YY hours analysing nmbd's log files. I hope somebody
can point us to the right direction or tell us where to find more

x84_64 distro: Really worth it ?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
I have so far avoided using the x86_64 distro, sticking to 32 bits on all
my servers.
My question for all using the 64bits distro is: is it really worth it ?
What kind of applications are you running, and what kind of _real_
gain did you have ?
Note: All my servers are 2GB RAM or less.

Re: CentOS and SL, together? -- the _real_ history of Red Hat Linux support
...ant a 5+ year supported distro need to pay for
RHEL. And those same consumers were the ones already complaining
that Red Hat Linux was "too experimental." Hence the SLA ownership.
Now, after all this, am I just an asshole?
Or am I merely trying to explain the realities of Red Hat's _real_ history?
People who believed that Red Hat would support .2/.3 releases more
than 2 years, or every little .0/.1 release more than 1 year were lying
to themselves. Red Hat never ran into that _until_ they tried to
introduce Red Hat Linux 8.0 and drop support for at least 6.2, 7 and 7.1,
as well as...

VNC on Optimus systems (is|may be) broken
Hello!
I'm investigating a case where x11vnc (or RealVNC server or vino) on a
_real_ X11 server seems to be broken with any VNC viewer.
By broken I mean: it seems to keep old frames in memory, in such a way
that in every three frames, two are from the past and one is the
current one.
This is easily spotted when using gnome-shell and looking at the clock
at the top. Besides being...

Using RSpec to drive the design of a GUI desktop application
Hello everybody,
I''ve been using RSpec as a tool to create web applications for some time
now, in Rails, and using plain Ruby with WEBrick as well. The tool suits my
needs and the story runner is great.
Now there are things that aren''t solvable on the web, you''ll need a _real_
desktop application for those problems.
So I''ve toyed a bit around with various GUI libraries as wxRuby and
RubyCocoa, to get a feeling on how these libraries work and I love to create
native OS X applications using cocoa.
Of course, the next question that arose in my head was:"How d...

Indeed. I _think_ I understood correctly. I can't envision any _real_
problems. If I understand correctly, it'll be a matter of creating a
kernel module for the BSD platform, and making it loadable (kldload,
in BSD speak). Which will allow it to work with the resources made
available to the kernel (hardware). In fact it should be even easier,
given that there is...

[LLVMdev] What does "debugger tuning" mean?
...en my answer to your question is Sure, we could, if we find
those differences to be important.
I promise you that these things are true at Sony, and I would be
astounded if it wasn't true for Apple. Guess what? LLDB and SCE are
two of the debugger-tuning options for a reason.
Show me another _real_ case of _real_ differences that matter to the
community, and we can talk about another debugger tuning option.

Centos Realtek Network driver for Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC
Greetings,
I am tearing my hair at getting this to work under centos 5.5/Ubuntu 10.04.
Any suggesstions (Repos, RPMs etc)?
My MB Intel embedded NIC blow up after a lightning (Mumbai get _real_
heavy mansoon rains inter alia).
I want this to make work under Centos 5.x (and 6.x subsequently who
DVD I have been downloading with a pithy 128kbps connection).

Ctrl+C does not work in virtual console
Hi all,
I have a problem with the virtual console. I run Xen 3.0.1 (compiled
from the sources) on debian 3.1 (as dom0 and domU) on an AMD Athlon 64.
I can''t terminate programs with ctrl+c. If I try for example to ping a
machine, ping runs forever and cannot be stopped from the console.
ctrl+z does then not work either. But if I do the same with ssh,
everything works fine. There are

[PATCH]: Allow SSHD to install as service under WIndows 9x/Me
...slight problem with sshd as soon as the current
user logs off. The sshd daemon will be killed as well. Since
installing services is very different between NT and 9x, the way
used for NT boxes isn't working well for 9x. For that reason
several 9x users have asked for a solution which allows _real_
daemonizing sshd on their boxes. The following patch allows to do that.
When the function daemon() forks, the child process is registered as a
service when started on a 9x system. The functionality is outsourced
to bsd-cygwin_util.c, the daemon.c code just contains a conditionalized
call to the...

Exposing the New Pass Manager in the LLVM C API
Hi all,
At some time in the near future we would like to allow for Rust to use the
new PM. As I understand it, Rust uses LLVM through the stable LLVM C API,
which currently only provides an interface to the legacy PM. We wanted to
ask what people think about how we should go about exposing the new PM
through this API. We can think of 3 possibilities for now:
1) Just replace the API to expose the

*Real* real time streaming (no delay/latency)?
Hello
Does anyone have experience with _real_ real time streaming - i.e. with
very little delay/latency?
I need to stream from point A to point B in near-CD quality via a 100
Mbit network. That is easily done using icecast. But here is the tricky bit:
I want as little delay in the signal as possibble - preferrably below 50ms!
I have made...

[Flac-users] How do I encode a FLAC with tags?
So there are no command line options like in oggenc to do artist and
misc tags? Sure if you've got a solution that I don't have to do from
scratch then post away! :-)
Thanks!

[Flac-users] How do I encode a FLAC with tags?

3) hope that I get vorbis-style tags into a new FLAC metadata
block in your time frame :)
#1 sounds like the best bet for you now, and there are lots of
little programs that will do id3 tag management on existing
files (like id3ren).
#3 will happen but not for a couple of months. I'm _real_
busy lately.
