Re: Hot swap CPU -- "build" is not a good CPU benchmark
...y *I* go off on tangents. No offense, you were already in 2 posts before I even responded. If you look at other threads, I'm typically responding "OT" after 2-3 people have done so, and I largely see an inaccuracy, or I see a correction very much necessary. [ My posts on that thread _prior_ had just been to inform people that yes, there _were_ Xeon and Itanium systems with hot-swap capability. ] That's all I was trying to do in this case. Re: [nbdkit] Access export name from plugins
...The plugin is responsible for returning an array of zero or more structures terminated by an entry where .name is NULL (although returning zero entries means the plugin is not currently accepting clients, as no export name from the client will match). The .list_exports() callback would be called _prior_ to .open on a per-connection basis (thus, there is no 'void *handle' parameter, because the connection has not yet been established; but because it is called once per connecting client, the resulting list could be dynamically modified such as providing a list of filenames present in a direc...

(Note: this is not the same as searching in the CWD itself.) 5_ If the CONFIG directive was used so to change the Working Directory, then the _prior_ Working Directory is no longer relevant; only the *Current* Working Directory is considered as base for relative paths where the c32 files are searched-for. The (new) CWD takes precedence over any PATH directive. 6_ After the relevant aforementioned paths, the paths stated in all the parsed PA...

[nbdkit] Access export name from plugins
Of course at the moment nbdkit parses the NBD export name option but doesn't really do anything with it (except logging it). I wonder if we should make this available to plugins, in case they wish to serve different content to different clients based on the export name. Note I'm not suggesting that we use this feature in any existing plugins. If we wanted to do this there seem like two

PATH directive
I have a question about the PATH directive. In fact, the question is not about how it is currently working, but about its intention or goal, or how it was supposed to work (or how it was thought about for the 5.00 release). Previous discussions about the PATH directive in the Syslinux Mailing List, and its documentation (e.g. "PATH rules") left on me the impression that it was

SIPURA Breaches Contract
Hi list, Well I really didn't want to see things get to this point, but Sherman at Sipura along with their President Jan F. leave me no other choice. SIPURA has been provided a letter from our attorney for Breach of Contract and damages. They have yet to respond. A quick background. 1. Sherman (SIPURA's Director of Marketing), stated that we would do a join press release for the Oct

Reducing the deleterious effects of ego related issues on the list: growing up individually.
Folks, I *suggest* that little or no reply to this is warranted. It's just the statements of an old fart trying to make a (slightly) better environment for all of us. These thoughts are offered for consideration and use as you see fit. For some, "Hey, that'll work for me too" is the hoped for result. No discussion is intended or warranted, IMO.
