PXE Booting EFI

x64, architecture type 09?
Have you tried testing only one architecture at a time, without mixing
EFI IA32 with EFI x64? I mean, not mixing (and not conditioning) them
in config files nor in the actual Syslinux-related files in the server;
testing isolated configs and files for EFI IA32 _only_ and then
isolated configs and files for EFI x64 _only_.
Perhaps you could post your TFTP/DHCP/whatever configuration files?
Is there some setting in the VMWare products to configure which exact
type of firmware (BIOS / EFI IA32 / EFI x64) is being used/expected by
the VM?

Samba local user without /etc/passwd
...in, I would
also like to have some local (non domain) user for other tasks.
It is my understanding that for a local samba user I _need_ to create
the relative unix user (using useradd) and then use the samba-provided
tool smbpasswd. I simply wonder if it is possible to create local users
using _only_ smbpasswd (or equivalent), without messing with the real
local unix user table stored in "/etc/passwd" (hence the world "virtual).
Regards.

Interesting, but it seems to _only_ show groups that weren't included
in the anaconda install. For example where the saved anaconda-ks-cfg
shows @gnome-desktop and @development, 'yum grouplist' only shows
'MATE Desktop' which was installed later.
What I am looking for is a succinct way to duplicate the full

database failover
Trying to get dovecot to _only_ use local copy of database, only querying
another database server (same database, just replicated) if local copy is
not responding, I have google fu'd a bit and found my only answer in so far
as dovecot did this once upon as time, but it was only due to a dovecot
bug, that has since been fixed,...

What is has_many :through really buying you over HABTM?
So having just learned how to do has_many :through as opposed to HABTM,
and then, being concerned that I wouldn''t get it to work, I started
thinking about these two approaches.
It seems to me that the _only_ problem that the HM:T (has_many :through)
approach solves that HABTM doesn''t is the issue of the potential
collision of id columns between your join table and one of your joined
tables.
[ Actually, now that I read the dance-off blog

Grandstream and Transfers
Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone's come across this issue, and what might be a fix for it:
We've got several BT-101's deployed, and upgraded to firmware v.1.0.5.16. The
phone can do proper supervised transfer, but _only_ once. If the user attempts
to transfer a second time, it won't work.
any suggestions/hints/tips are welcome..

Two attempts required to join domain
...empt Samba searches the whole directory from dc=domain,dc=local
with a scope of 2 (sub) for uid=MyMachine, objectClass=sambaSamAccount.
It of course does not find it, so the smbldap-useradd script is called and the
machine account is properly added to ou=Computers.
Then Samba immediately searches _ONLY_ ou=People,dc=domain,dc=local for the
newly created machine account and of course does not find it. And the "failed
to join domain" pop-up is displayed on the WinXP machine.
On the second join attempt, Samba _ONLY_ searches
ou=Computers,dc=domain,dc=local, which is where it SHOULD search...

Samba vs PAM
...put something like this into /etc/pam.d/samba :
auth required /lib/security/pam_ncp_auth.so use_first_pass
server=some_server
But Samba still authenticates against smbpasswd :( .. one more
question - is there a way to completely disable the need of smbpasswd
if I want to authenticate _only_ against Novell NDS ?
Please help :-)
Thanx..

Boot fails in a VMware player VM - syslinux 6.03
...ot] able to boot in UEFI and BIOS modes

Thanks Ady, I appreciate your accuracy and stand corrected.
However, in my use cases at least (providing installers able to boot in
in BIOS _and_ UEFI modes) there's no point in providing _hybrid_ images
relying _only_ on Syslinux as they will be usable _only_ for USB booting
anyway, in case of UEFI.
So if I want to "uniformize" the look of the greeting screens I'll have
to provide "USB only" images, not hybrid ones. Or use grub for both BIOS
and USB booting, but that's out of scope....

X11 device
...t before I am able to plot (.png's in a for-loop), I have to start
a X11 device. I was wondering if it is possible to start the X11
device from the R console (as it is tedious to click the X11-button
in the GUI). Searching through the web, I found the command "X11()",
but that _only_ works, if the X11-button in the GUI was pressed
before... otherwise, I get an error message that it wasn't possible
to start the X11 device and I get an additional warning saying that
the connection to the X11 display couldn't be opened.
Does it work to start such an device from the...

playing around with removing algos
...ing wildcards) will be removed"
It seems that just one algo name is supported on such a line, example:
Macs -umac-64*
But this form is not supported:
Macs -umac-64*,-hmac-sha1*
nor is this:
Macs -umac-64*
Macs -hmac-sha1*
And I have difficulties in finding _one_ pattern that matches _only_
the above algo families, but nothing else.
Can you confirm this behaviour? Can it be improved?
Cheers,

Weird behaviour with multiple accounts pointing to same maildir
...formation is all in MySQL. Delivery is
handled by Postfix. Everything seems nice and clean, except ...
If I create multiple accounts that all use the same Maildir for
delivery (i.e. joe_smith at domain.com, js at domain.com, js at otherdomain.com)
it seems to work well. Except that the user can _only_ log in as
the first record in the database via IMAP. (i.e. in the example
above, the user could log in as joe_smith at domain.com, but not the
others) Logging in as the others does not produce any erros (that
I can find, anyway) but the user can't see his/her mail.
I'm rather stumped as...

how to set smtp-client -> submission_relay_host for IPv4 only?
...rs_ it's trivial to set IPv4/6-only, or both, addresses.
It's also trivial to set OTHER clients, connecting TO Dovecot, to use IPv4-only.
I'm asking how/where to 'tell', via config, Dovecot's smtp-CLIENT, that's making to connection to the submission_relay_host, to use _only_ IPv4.

The i686 ISA and designs fix a massive amount of serious design

Apologies for this slight off-topic.
Who "they" would be?
Let's not fool ourselves. HP _might_ solve possible issues regarding
their firmware when a (current) MS OS / bootloader shows some problem
for users of newish HP hardware. Let me emphasize: HP will _only_
consider publishing a firmware update under certain specific
conditions, and any issue related (even loosely) with using
syslinux.efi in HP hardware is not one of such circumstances.
Any non-MS bootloader will probably have "disadvantages" regarding the
compatibility between HP's...

But isn't this the _only_ way to tell the client that this is not an mp3
stream but an Ogg Vorbis stream?

"isolinux.bin missing or corrupt" when booting USB flash drive in old PC
...o admit that I am a little bit
tired of answering questions related to how an ISO image either fails
or succeeds when booting from USB (we both have been part of these
discussions during the last few years) . I am very much aware that
maintainers of Linux distributions want to keep distributing _only_ ISO
images and they want to support _only_ the "simple" dd method, in spite
of the fact that for the most part optical media is not being used for
these purposes anymore. At the same time that distro maintainers want
to "simplify" their workload, The Syslinux Project keeps i...
