Best Practices Question
Should models call action mailers, or should those calls always originate from controllers? For example, should user.forgot_password send the email, or should the user_controller.forgot_password? Just looking for some opinions... Thanks, Tom

Boxcox transformation / homogeneity of variances
Dear r-helpers, Prior to analysis of variance, I ran the Boxcox function (MASS library) to find the best power transformation of my data. However, reading the Boxcox help file, I cannot figure out if this function (through its associated log-likelihood function) corrects for * normality only * or if it also induces * homogeneity of variances *. I found in Biometry (Sokal and Rohlf, p. 419)

Use Rails or PHP?
I''m new to RoR and have used PHP. I want to develop a personal organizer that allows me to add lists (tables) and search them. The ActiveRecord concept seems to allow me to set up something that works with an existing table, but I want the ability to add tables without programming. I know how to do this in PHP and I can put the SQL into queries in RoR, but does ActiveRecord let

[RFC] Hypercalls from HVM guests
Hi, I am currently working on hypercalls from HVM guests. I started with a set of Intel patches posted to xen-devel last September. I currently have code running for both 32-bit and 64-bit HVM guests running on a 64-bit hypervisor. I am curious why none of the original patches were accepted, and what I might need to do to make them acceptable. Is other work being done in this area that
