low end file server with h/w RAID - recommendations
...rds do know it and do use that nice feature. > That??s way easier to do with a cli. And yes, when with one controller GUI daemon was failing to do one task I needed, I did use UNIX cron job which was executing what was necessary through cli interface. This does not change my perception that _I_ with my mentality have less chance to screw up and obliterate RAID array when I need, say, to start rebuild if _I_ use GUI web interface, as opposed to command line interface (cli). Even if it is just me, I stay convinced to keep doing it this way which is safer for the data of my users that live o...

prevent users from fiddling with network?
...managed workstation. This ability to screw settings up is a pain for sysadmin if this workstation sits on common area (like library) and multiple users can access that, and even if it is workstation that is basically a single user one, but has to be managed centrally. I rest my case. Basically, all _I_ said on this sidetracked thread should be treated as enclosed into "rant" tags ;-) Valeri ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Valeri Galtsev Sr System Administrator Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics Kavli Institute for Cosmological Physics University of Chicago Phone: 773-7...

And if the config option is useful, shouldn't it be DRM-wide? The modesetting ioctl calls are shared among all drivers. Best regards Thomas > > BR...

...gh tw_cli. (I don't know if you could use the 3dm2 GUI to schedule other tasks.) I only use 3dm2 to send out email alerts. I tried using MSM to send out email alerts but I got way way too many alerts for trivial events, so I ended up disabling it. > This does not change my perception that _I_ with my mentality have less > chance to screw up and obliterate RAID array when I need, say, to start > rebuild if _I_ use GUI web interface, as opposed to command line interface > (cli). cwRsync got killed...
Last cwrsync was 4.1.0, current is 4.2.0. It was avail on sourceforge. Itefix.no decided "we want money for coding and support" - that itself is not wrong. Though _I_ never needed any rsync help on neither linux and windows (including mixed) scenarios. But they killed their sourceforge downloads, all, including past versions of cwrsync, including source. The 4.2.0 client is still available on www.chip.de, but the server has no alternative DL. We still have t...

blindxfer & atxfer not working?
...lindxfer => *1 ; Blind transfer disconnect => *0 ; Disconnect atxfer => *2 ; Attended transfer Now, when a call comes in, I can press *1 and I hear "Transfer", at which point I enter an extension and the call goes there. However if _I_ initiate the call, *1 does nothing - I cannot transfer the call. Same story for attended transfer (*2). It doesn't make any difference whether I place the call on a SIP or ZAP channel. Is this a bug? If not, what's the secret to transferring outgoing calls that I initiate? BTW, I have c...

Weird behaviour on incoming DIDs
Folks, I have a problem here. I have 2 DIDs, one a 415 number and the other a 650 number. I have my extensions.conf set up to handle both of them exactly the same way, passing them to an internal context. When _I_ dial either DID, I get exactly the same behaviour that I have specified (the call is answered, and then I play my own welcome mesage, then handle any extension dialed). However, when one of my friends dials in, the 415 DID consistently works as designed, but the 650 DID sometimes just tells him go...

keytab-lilo: update to support kbd 2.0.3 format
...ng the complete command should be expected to work adequately for most distros. Patching the script in such a way that it would work for some particular distro should only be done if the script maintains backwards compatibility (i.e. not breaking its compatibility with other/older OSes). FWIW, _I_ am not planning on testing this. Feedback is still welcome. Web Based scheduler like LiveSupport for icecast
You might like my project called tunequeue, though it might be overkill or too much effort to install. It does provide a web interface to ices and allows fairly complex scheduling. It is perl with a mysql backend. http://tunequeue.sf.net -Aaron On 7/4/06, oDDskOOL <oddskool@gmail.com> wrote: > > Hi, > > I think what you want can be (easily ;) ) built around Ices, using perl

*69
Hello, I've managed to build in the "last number repeat" outlined at http://www.voip-info.org/wiki-Asterisk+last+number+repeat to call back the last person _I_ called from a particular phone, and now I'd like to try to do something similar for the common *69 -- call back the last number that called me. I assume I'll do part of this in my standard extension macro -- capturing the last callerid number that called a particular extension, along w/som...

Isohybrid wiki page and UEFI
...hat has not been maintained since 2010 and that has not been tested with syslinux.efi. Although RH and Fedora have info and code for booting in UEFI mode, there is no document that is clear about the "independence" of boot loader in the procedures. Every document from RH / Fedora that _I_ have read about UEFI also includes some kind of mixed information; for instance, assuming GRUB2 as bootloader without clearly discerning what is "UEFI" text and what is "GRUB2" text / procedures. One of the consequences is that some users coming here, to the Syslinux Mailing...

command in kickstart file to write disklabel?
Dear All, At some point after release of CentOS 7 (though this thing might have started before, it is just when _I_ noticed it) I discovered that if I stick into machine drive without disk label, and then do kickstart installation, the command in kickstart file clearpart --initlabel does not work. Even worse: if I just use GUI installer the drive is not listed between available disks. If I switch in the same i...
