Deleted symlinks when receiveing files with the same name
Hi list,
I would like to know if the following rsync's behavior can be
changed/modified.
I noticed that when rsync receive a file for which the local filesystem
already has a symlinks with the same path/name, it _first_ delete the
symlink, _then_ it start the transfer.
I think there are two problems with this approach:
- it completely ignores the content of the symlinked files, which can be
used to speedup the transfer;
- if the transfer goes interruped/stopped, the receiving side remains
without the symlink a...

Rcompression on MAC - where is it?
Hello
I need to run an r-file that works on Windows on MAC. The first lines of the file are:
library(R.matlab)
library(Rcompression)
Somehow I cannot find where Rcompression is. Am I missing something?
Many thanks

Revision 3637 killed support for models in modules?
Hi,
My app uses modules both for controllers and models (in order to make
the app installable with any other Rails app without conflicts). In
revision 3636, everything worked just fine, but in 3637 something very
odd happened. On the _first_ request to the server, the page loads
fine, but any request _after_ that dies on Uninitialized Constant
errors, referring to my models in modules. This error persists up
until and including the latest revision (3801 at the time of this
writing).
Did some behaviour change drastically at revision 36...

match vs. %in% (PR#853)
This isn't really a bug so much as an undocumented feature, but
perhaps the help file should be changed.
If you say
match(x,y)
you get the values of the _first_ instance in y that matches each
value of x.
If you say
x %in% y
you get "TRUE" for every match, not just the first.
This is useful, now that I know it, but perhaps the thing
about the first instance should be documented.
I still don't understand why it happens!

But if B.a requires pulling in an object from A.a, LLD will pull it from
the _first_ A.a on the command-line, and then, if this flag is specified,
report an error due to the incorrect ordering of dependencies. (Whereas GNU
ld will pull it from the _second_ A.a and succeed linking.)

No open channels after timeout
...No open channels after timeout!
The client is FreeBSD-4.4 running OpenSSH 3.0.1p1, the server is OpenBSD
2.9 running OpenSSH 3.0.1.
Is there any way to keep a foreground SSH connection open like this?
I am also having a secondary issue with this connection but I believe
it's unrelated: the _first_ time I connect through the ssh tunnel, I get
the following in syslog:
sshd[16357]: error: socket: Protocol not supported
All following connections through the tunnel do not cause that error to
appear. At first I thought perhaps it was a lack of IPv6 support but I
tried "telnet -4" on t...

Predict function in Raster package
Hey,
I am having troubles using the 'predict' function with in the Raster
package. I am using pm<-predict(mm, predictors) where mm is the
mahalanobis distance and the predictors are a stack of 6 raster layers
containing environmental variables.
When I try to run the prediction I get the following warning message:

forgive possible repost: alternate bzip2 library
Hi,
I am resubmitting a question, mainly because I suspect I may have
inadvertently cancelled it, while it was awaiting moderator approval.
It's about manually compiling R-3.3.1 and using, not the standard system's
(ver 1.0.5), but an alternate a bzip2 (v1.0.6) which is located in a
non-standard location.
I usually lean on pkg-config to deal with issues like this. I've create an

Tiny Echo on PSTN via Zaptel
I'm using Asterisk 1.0.9, a Digium TE210P dual T1 card, and two Rhino
channel banks (one 12FXO/12FXS, the other 24 FXS). So it's an analog
phone on the inside connected to one of the FXS ports, and PSTN line
connected to one of the FXO ports.
My problem is that as soon as I hear the _first_ ring when I dial out
through the PSTN line, I hear a tiny echo on the phone (I estimate
between 20ms and 40ms), which never goes away for this call. It's just
loud enough to bug the heck out of me when I'm talking (I could estimate
the gain relationship with ztmonitor if it would help)....

Fighting some install issues with a new box
Folks-
I have had a machine dropped in my lap that I am trying to get CentOS
4.1 to run on as a first pass (the hope is for it to eventually run
Rocks -- http://www.rocksclusters.org , which uses CentOS 4.x as its
underlying OS).
The machine has 2 Opteron 250DP (2.4GHz) with 4 GB of RAM. It is using a

Currently we promote vector elements to the widest possible type, until we hit the _first_ legal register type. For AVX, where YMM registers extend XMM registers, it is not clear to me why we stop at XMM sized registers. In some cases, masks of types <4 x i1> are legalized to <4 x i32> in XMM registers even if they are a result of a vector-compare of <4 x i64> types....

Fwd: Patch to icecast2

old) is working very nice at http://www.onamallorca.net:8000/ona.ogg
(with a very old vorbis lib, I think it's rc2).
So, if you are interested, I could try to update the changes to the last
version. Find enclosed the _first_ patch I've sent to jack, some of the
items are already applied (for example #3) but the rest are "pending".
I'm very interesting in porting them if you din't find any big (or
"conceptual") mistake.
I also like the "prebuffering" feature (which is called...

AIX fails on startup with R-1.0.0
...esn't find its way into the executable, R.X11, since there's also a
regcomp in /usr/lib/libc.a Apparently, this confuses the system
enough to completely lose its mind. When regcomp in libc.a gets
called, the stack is trashed which made this hard to debug.
A temporary fix is to remove the _first_ use of -lc from the linker
command line. This will affect the way the export symbols are
defined. Not sure yet whether this matters.
Why does this bug only show up on AIX? Is this some weird posix trap?
Thanks,
