Os X and Win clients to SMB 3.0.10 server - how to hide ._ files from win clients only
...and invokes the Doubler features to generate these rfork
files.
Aside from my obvious file-migration issues that are going to be popping up (mac
users never consistently applied extensions to file names, many many file names
include the / character, etc.) I would like to find a way to hide these ._files
from my windows clients, without loosing the ability for OS X clients to view
them. Our current policies are such that Windows machines are configured to
view "hidden" files, and this is unlikely to change. The OS X Finder does not
show any '.' files by default - but the OS needs...

Systemd, PHP-FPM, and /cgi-bin scripts
...So /path/to/
webroot/cgi-bin/upload.php works just fine running as a separate process as a
cgi executable. Yay!
But... php-fpm has its own "tmp" directory, something like /tmp/systemd-
private-RANDOM-php-fpm.service-RANDOM/tmp that the cgi-bin has no access to.
To be able to populate $_FILES in a way compatible with the rest of the
framework, it appears that I need to be able to run the /cgi-bin in the same
context as the php-fpm environment so files can be access across all the
different parts of the web app. This includes related things like access to
the $_SESSION data files, an...

sampling design runs with no errors but returns empty data set
Dear colleagues,
I'm working with the 2008 Canada Election Studies (http://www.queensu.ca/cora/_files/_CES/CES2008.sav.zip), trying to construct a weighted national sample using the survey package.
Three weights are included in the national survey (a household weight, a provincial weight and a national weight which is a product of the first two).
In the following code I removed variables with miss...

Documentation for wxRuby
...turns the wxWidgets
documentation into something much more Ruby like. The code has not
been cleaned up or re-factored and needs some extra features added but
it does quite a bit already.
I have uploaded the generated documentation to my web site so people
can view it.

I also have a zipped version if anyone wants to download a local copy.
http://hailstonesoftware.com/_files/Ruby/wxruby/wxRuby_docs.zip
The docs are generated by parsing the LaTeX originals from wxWidgets
and outputing a Rubyish version. These LaTeX files are the...

AD 3.3.x issues
I have a 3.2.8 samba server (centos4) connected to AD which works perfectly.
My other machine 3.3.0 was suffering from a bug where MAC users would
copy a file to the network and would get an error message regarding
permissions, which I tracked down to it creating ._files and putting
MAC permission on files, which 3.2.8 doesn't do. Unable to solve that
I upgraded to 3.3.2 which did solve the issue but left me with
another. The user logs in locally, but the machine is part of an old
NT domain. Before I upgraded the samba server it was using 3.3.0 but
worked fi...

Good Centos Security Advice & Gnome Thumbnails
Browsing the net for one thing unexpectedly brought me to two good and

Disabling services in CentOS 5.5
Hello all,
I have been doing some searching for information about disabling
services within a CentOS 5.5 install. I have found a few different
opinions, and wanted to ask for some feedback.
First off, the system is running a LAMP stack to serve a web
application. It will only be doing email to send occasional messages
out (sent via the application only). It will not be receiving email

Answering Machine Detection
Does anyone have any recommendations on implementing Answering Machine detection for call generation programs?
What I would like is * to determine what picks up the other line (Answering Machine, Voicemail, or Human) to determine which action to take. For example:
If * detects Answering Machine or Voicemail, hangup call & the AGI will log (ANSWERING MACHINE DETECTED) and at that point,

puppetlabs-ntp template discussion
Hi guys,
As I mentioned in a previous email I''ve refactored ntp and released a 1.0.0
release candidate. There''s one outstanding "flaw" remaining that''s
bothering me and I wanted to solicit opinions on the list. We currently
maintain a template per distribution that is close to the stock
distribution provided ntp configuration. This leads to massive

[PATCH 1/9] Convert config file to XML, and translate networks/bridge for all connections
Previously, only the LibVirtXML connection translated network and bridge names
in imported metadata. This change moves this functionality in Converter, making
it available to LibVirt connections as well.
At the same time, the format of the config file is switched to XML. The primary
driver for this is that the allowable syntax of a foreign network/bridge name is
not known. Rather than create a
