memcache-client working for anyone?
I''m at the bloody forehead stage, so I figure it''s time to ask. After
installing the robot coop''s memcache-client which everyone apparently
recommends, it refuses to work because the rails cache.rb is invoking
the read() method on the cache, which it _does not have_. Their library
has get() and put() but no read() and write() as rails expects. What
gives? Is everyone quietly writing wrapper libraries around this? No
mention on any blogs...help would be greatly appreciated
My setup from environment.rb initialize:
CACHE = MemCache.new :c_thresho...

windows acl with rsync possible ?
Hi all, (i am new at rsync althought using it for a year and half)
i was unable to find a direct answer to this questions :
_does rsync under windowz really support ACL replication ?_
if I "rsync" a directory, files inherit from the acl of that dir. but if special acls are setted on some files
these are lost in the replication : only inherited acls are written
i tried this with rsync 130a, one collegue of mine tried...

Migrate OLD PDC on Centos5 to Centos6
Hi.
I have a old server running our PDC(NT4 Style) with Centos 5+samba 3x+LDAP
as backend.
I want to move this setup to Centos 6.
Some one running this layout under Centos6 without issue?
I don't want to right now to work with AD style yet, no time for testing.
Thanks guys.

Migrate OLD PDC on Centos5 to Centos6
...e 3 (only security update and
urgent priority bug fixes). At the latest in 3 years, you have to
upgrade to RHEL7 or later, because RHEL6 will then reach its EOL.
In case you consider switching to RHEL 6 is because it contains Samba 3
packages, I just wanted to make sure that you know: Samba 4.x _does not_
mean you must migrate to AD. See
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Updating_Samba#Misconceptions_About_Samba_4
Regarding your migration scenario (the short version):
- Read the release notes of Samba versions you skipped. Parameters, etc.
may have changed their defaults or have been removed...

dtmfmode=auto, but doesn't work
Hello everybody,
I have set dtmfmode=auto in my sip.conf, but that does not work and I still got the following message:
WARNING[4980]: dsp.c:1422 ast_dsp_process: Inband DTMF is not supported on codec g729. Use RFC2833
According to http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/index.php?page=Asterisk+sip+dtmfmode:
auto: Asterisk will use rfc2833 for DTMF relay by default but will switch to inband DTMF tones

IAX2 authentication confusion
...compares it to the entity name
in iax.conf, before comparing the secret. This is fine.
2) Use Dial and iax.conf, as in:
Dial(IAX2/local-site/extension)
and in remote-site's iax.conf:
[local-site]
type=peer
secret=foo
auth=md5
host=local-site.domain.com
In this mode, the IAX2 setup message _does not_ contain a USERNAME, and
the receiving system somehow manages to find the proper entry and
authenticate the connection.
However, the only way that I could see that this would be possible is
that the receiving system is comparing the supplied "secret" against all
secrets in it'...

Running Wine as a user
Hi
I've used Wine for some time now, compiled from source, from root with no problems. I now wish to run it regularly as an ordinary user.
Unfortunately it's refusing to run because "the socket is not owned by you", or words to that effect. After the socket is created under /home/user/.wine/... I can give it user permissions and Wine will start, but if I stop Wine and

* consolidation of system.h, merging jeremy's comments about ordering

* consolidation of smp functions that goes through smp_ops. They're sharing

CentOS 6 Partitioning Map/Schema
Good Evening All,
I have a question regarding CentOS 6 server partitioning. Now I know
there are a lot of different ways to partition the system and different
opinions depending on the use of the server. I currently have a quad
core intel system running 8GB of RAM with 1 TB hard drive (single). In
the past as a FreeBSD user, I have always made a physical volume of the
root filesystem (/),

[LLVMdev] RFC: LLVM should require a working C++11 <thread>, <mutex>, and <atomic>
AKA: MinGW + win32threads is holding LLVM (and all of its subprojects)
back. We need to stop supporting this host platform.
I'm aware of essentially 2 reasonably important use cases for supporting
MinGW + win32threads:
1) Sane host toolchain on Windows that doesn't require downloading MSVC.
(I'm dubious about the value of this one...)
2) Cross-compiling a Windows clang.exe (and

Dedicated server running ESXi with no RAID card, ZFS for storage?
Morning all...
I have a Dedicated server in a data center in Germany, and it has 2 3TB
drives, but only software RAID. I have got them to install VMWare ESXi and
so far everything is going ok... I have the 2 drives as standard data
stores...
But i am paranoid... So, i installed Nexenta as a VM, gave it a small disk
to boot off and 2 1Tb disks on separate physical drives... I have created a
