yum causing RPC timed out?
...med "do_ypcall" is a NIS error message. (Previous NIS was called "yellow pages"; the "yp" in do_ypcall is a reference to that). Maybe you have "hosts: files nis" in /etc/nsswitch.conf or something else that's causing the OS to want to talk to NIS. You _DO_ have a problem with your NIS setup somewhere. -- rgds Stephen

Sacrilege, but...
I had this same problem for awhile on Icecast 1.3.10. I moved back to 1.3.0 (I know!) and it went away. At the time (a few months back) I was using CVS Ices. That was on this system: Linux 2.2.19 glibc-2.1.3-15 glib-1.2.6-3 glibc-devel-2.1.3-15 (I think pretty close to Mike's). Problem to map uidNumber and getting authentication to work
...while uidNumber doesn't, at least according to 'wbinfo -i $uid', which shows the uid as the default starting point '10000'. Another problem is that getent passwd/group doesn't work at all, and because of that neither does authentication ('wbinfo -a/-K' works). I _do_ have winbind on /etc/nsswhitch.conf though, so I'm pretty much out of ideas about what's missing.. my smb.conf: [global] workgroup = SHORTREALM realm = REALM security = ads use kerberos keytab = true idmap config SHORTREALM:schema_mode = rfc2307 idmap config SHORTREALM...

...structions to the letter, but when I add the last command (the "ip route" with "nexthop") then nothing goes out through the modems. Each modem works when I add a single default gateway pointing to it, so I don''t believe the modems are the problem. Two of the modems _do_ have private IP addresses (192.168.x.1) - could that be confusing the kernel? If so, do I need to get public IP addresses for those modems? Do I HAVE to create a patched kernel (ala Anastasov)? May I post the script I used to try this out? Thanks, folks! Calvin Dodge Certified Linux Bigot (tm)...

Trouble with Ubuntu 15.10 / syslinux 6.03
...upstream project, or at least to get in touch with upstream Syslinux (by means of this Syslinux Mailing List). Some reports were already opened by then, and they still have the same status. The only way to stop this useless amounts of reports is for someone from the Ubuntu QA Team to actually _do_ something about it: either to update from "3:6.03+dfsg-8ubuntu2" to "3:6.03+dfsg-11" (i.e. building with gcc 4.9) or by picking up the same upstream commits as Fedora 23 does (we could help with that too, if someone in Ubuntu would care). Good luck with that. Regards, Ady....

Understanding UID/GID mapping models.
...r ADS for authentication and am trying to understand how UID/GID mapping rules are triggered. This[1] seems to suggest that if I do not specify the idmap uid/gid parameters in smb.conf, then authenticated usernames are mapped to "local" user accounts having the same name. If, however, I _do_ specify idmap uid/gid then one of the idmap_* allocator modules is used. Is my understanding correct there? We have a mixed NIS/AD environment, and in most cases we do not use idmap parameters and, as such, rely on the existence of an NIS account to map UID/GID's. However, when users attempt...

Strange dropouts
...ikki/nebularia/test/t2title-decoded.flac I've tried to compile all the ogg and vorbis-related stuff with gcc 2.95, 3.0 and 3.1 and also tested the official deb files but none of them fixed the problem for me. These errors don't reproduce exactly the same way if I re-encode the ogg file but _do_ sound always the same when playing it so the errors are probably in the file. Windows binaries, however, work fine. Does anyone know what the problem is? TIA for any help. Cheers, - Tomi Jylhä-Ollila <p><p><p><p><p>--- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.o...

Re: [PATCH nbdkit] server: Deprecate the -e/--exportname parameter.
...:///foo\?socket=$unixsocket \ -c "print(h.pread(3, 0))"' but that's a lot more painful to write. We _don't_ need to advertise 'foo' or 'bar' over NBD_OPT_INFO (at least, not for plugins that don't implement the forthcoming .export_list callback), but _do_ need a way for the captive application (nbdsh in this case) to know _which_ export the captive should connect to. Re: [nbdkit PATCH 3/4] server: Implement list_exports.
...eadonly, int default_only, > + struct nbdkit_exports *exports); I'm trying to figure out a situation where knowing whether we are running under 'nbdkit -r' (and thus all exports will be read-only) will affect the list advertised by the plugin. But then again, we _do_ pass the readonly flag to both .preconnect and .open, which are bookends around this call. That said, now's the time to decide whether to keep it or to simplify the interface by dropping it, before we bake in a stable release with the API. -- Eric Blake, Principal Software Engineer Red H...

pxelinux problem
...595]: providence: read request for //pxelinux.cfg/C0A80101: success Note that it's not trying to load the kernel image at all. It did occur to me that this might be one of the tftpd-related problems mentioned in the docs, but unfortunately, the docs are extremely thin on what non-Linux tftpds _do_ work correctly (presumably because you don't know). Since my boot server runs FreeBSD, I'm afraid I can't use either of the options the docs mention as being known to work correctly. My choices appear to be yale-tftpd-3.0 (the one I'm using now) and utftpd-0.2.4. The man page say...

Experimental Bitrate peeler
Hi All, As specified in earlier email we have released the trial version of the ogg vorbis decoder. Along with the decoder we have released an experimental version of the bitrate peeler that we have used to test the decoder for bitrate peeled inputs. We have made the executable of the bitrate peeler available from our website downloads section. www.vinjey.com/ogg_downloads.html
