lm/model.matrix confusion (? bug)
...eside))
.......................
we get a strange model. But the formula part of this model qualifies as a
valid formula
##
as.formula(Gas ~ model.matrix (~ Insul/Temp-1, data=whiteside))

just as if I were to write: lm(Gas ~ Insul/Temp - 1, data=whiteside)
But we know that the _correct_ formula is the following
##
as.formula(Gas ~ model.matrix (~ Insul/Temp-1, data=whiteside) -1)
-----------------
(Sorry, this is getting really long) --- So, my question/confusion comes
down to wanting to know why lm() doesn't check to see if an intercept has
been specified when the model ha...

Suggestion to emphasize Rboolean is unrelated to LGLSXP in R-exts
...ange (r87656) to make Rboolean map to type 'bool', not
'int', broke some tests & made me realize I've had totally the wrong
impression about what Rboolean actually is, and I suspect I'm not
alone.
Till now, I've assumed that like Rbyte --> RAWSXP, Rboolean is the
_correct_ storage type for LGLSXP, while idioms like int *ip =
LOGICAL(...) only "happened to work" because Rboolean masks int, which
could change at any time.
Actually, it turns out Rboolean only "happened to be int" because of
the use of 'enum', which is changing in now-and-fut...

That's funny... I can't even get it to compile on Solaris 2.7
with gcc

(no subject)-about the waring/errors in ks.test
[In future, please press reply all as there might be others in the
mailing list who can help you]
Without a (short) reproducible example, it would be difficult to say.
BTW, I think you have mistyped the error/warning message. Does it
actually say "cannot compute _correct_ p-value" or "cannot compute
_exact_ p-value". See example below.

Wilcoxon rank sum test with continuity correction
data: 1:3 and 1:10
W = 4.5, p-value = 0.08964
alternative hypothesis: true mu is not equal to 0

SIPP load testing - unexpected message - anyone using sipp sucessfully ?
Hi,
I'd like to test Asterisk performance under more concurrent sip calls. I use
Sipp, but do get "Unexpected message for Call-ID ...", so I wonder if anyone
is using sipp succesfully with Asterisk and is willing to share more info
about his solution ...
Any other convenient way to load test Asterisk ? Is sipp the right tool ?
Thanks in advance,
regards,
Rob.

GCC 5 and -Wstrict-aliasing in JSON.h
I did some more extensive testing and found that all GCCs older than 7
trigger the warning, but only if CMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Release (which I
guess indicates optimizations are enabled).
There's a patch up for disabling the warning here:
https://reviews.llvm.org/D50607.
I still feel a little uncomfortable, because I think Jonathan makes an
excellent point -- if GCC thinks there's a

residual df in lmer and simulation results
Hello. Douglas Bates has explained in a previous posting to R why he does
not output residual degrees of freedom, F values and probabilities in the
mixed model (lmer) function: because the usual degrees of freedom (obs -
fixed df -1) are not exact and are really only upper bounds. I am
interpreting what he said but I am not a professional statistician, so I
might be getting this wrong...

2.6.14 - HTB/SFQ QoS broken?
Hello,
First of all, I already contacted Martin Devera, the developer of HTB, and
he told me to search for help on this mailinglist, thus I am describing
my problems here now...
I am kind of seriously annoyed by QoS as I have been trying for over 3 years
to get it working properly - first I did not understand how it works, then
it seemed not to work, then it was working perfectly for half a
