vignettes present in 2 folders or won't work
...once compressed). My problem is that when I delete either inst/doc or vignette just before calling the last command of the Makefile (Rscript -e "devtools::build(vignettes = FALSE)"), then browseVignettes() does not find the vignettes after a normal installation. If anyone knows of some _complete_ documentation about the ever troublesome topic of vignettes building in R, I would be very grateful too... Many thanks! That can happen when a compile-from-source fails for lack of a (for compilation from source) needed -dev packages. Which is why _reliable_ and _complete_ provision of binaries is such a game changer. I have been at this for 20+ years (as it was that long ago that injected the first few r-cran-* packages into Debian). And having r2u is a complete gamechanger. I can drop into a random code repository (as today for work), run my `installDeps.r` helpe...

installation help for mac os x
Hi, I'm trying to install R for Mac OS X. I printed out the Mac OS X FAQ (version 1.9-1 2004-03-22) and have been following those instructions step-by-step. I'm a _complete_ novice when it comes to non-mac type software installations and am not very unix literate, but I'm hoping I can get this to work. I'm running a dual 1.8 GHz mac with the latest version of panther. Here's my progress to date: (1) Installed the C/C++ compiler from the Apple Developer...

Missing stuff in /bin
...hers) on one host, but that was a development machine and I'm not really sure what happened there. But now I ran into a similar problem (missing at least /bin/vi and /bin/cp) on a host where I'm a lot more certain of all that has been done on the machine. This is what happened, it's a _complete_ list of what I have done on the host: - installed centos 6 from dvd .iso, into esxi 4.1 vm - selected "web server" as base packages in install - configured network interface - configured some variables in /etc/profile.d (with vi - note this later) - installed mysqld and some php packages...

C'mon; really? Not even a comment asking to post the _complete_ content of the syslinux.cfg file? No suggestion about kernel options such as 'mem=', 'vmalloc=' or any other / similar? No question about the building environment (nasm, gnu-efi, gcc, binutils, mtools...)? No chance that someone could suggest that updating the gnu-efi submodu...

[LLVMdev] Mirroring of LLVM repository
...ound that this > workload is possible caused by massive mirroring of LLVM SVN > repository into git/hg/whatever. Please don't do that :) Let me add to what Anton said: I can only speak for git-svn, but the main burden it imposes on LLVM's SVN repository are attempts of mirroring the _complete_ history. Unfortunatly, a naive `git svn clone` will do just that -- so _please_ avoid this at all cost. If you want to use git-svn to work with LLVM's SVN repository, please only clone the latest SVN revision using git-svn's `--revision <n>` option (combined with a huge log window: `...

Kernel updates do not boot - always boots oldest kernel
OK, found out the problem as to why it doesn't boot any kernel except 36.2 the system reports that it cannot find vmlinuz-3.10.0-1160.88.1.el7.x86_64 or any one of the others, except for vmlinuz-3.10.0-1160.36.2.el7.x86_64 hence a manual selection from the grub menu when in front of the machine will only load the 36.2 kernel I found that under /boot/grub2 there were two .rpmnew files

[Bug 706] Iptables randomly reject some packets that have accept rule
...om Jan Engelhardt <jengelh at medozas.de> 2011-03-03 14:20:30 --- You could have run out of memory, subsequently, a packet may have not been state-classified, remaining at INVALID. See dmesg.
