Typo in the documentation of prcomp. (PR#569)
The help for prcomp on R 1.0.0 states that the component sdev of the
return value is the eigenvalues of the cov matrix. Am I completely
mistaken, or should this be the _square root_ of the eigenvalues?
Also, the documentation is not very clear about how tol is used to omit
components. (The _code_ is clear, though. :-)

5.00pre13 DISPLAY
In 5.00pre13, DISPLAY and F1-F12 files are parsed correctly from
vesamenu, but not from the boot prompt.
When pressing F1-F12 from the prompt, instead of showing a colored
word or sentence, the _code_ for that color is shown.
When the same text file is seen from [vesa]menu (by pressing F1-F12),
the expected colored words are correctly seen (not the code for the
selected color).
Also, in the boot prompt the default contrast (or whatever it is
called) for initial DISPLAY file's text seem...

Preventing corruption if filesystem is modified between ''save'' and ''restore''
Is there currently a way of preventing filesystem corruption if the
following sequence of events occurs:
1. ''xm save domain domain.chk''
2. ''xm create domain''
3. ''xm shutdown domain''
4. ''xm restore domain.chk''
?
If not, I''m thinking of trying to implement into the windows gplpv

list index rules evaluation behavior
I have what may be a simple/foolish question, but I've done the due diligence
and looked through pages of posts here as well as several of the PDFs on the
CRAN site, but haven't been able find what I'm after.
I am working with a list of say 3 histogram objects A, B & C, and each
histogram is a list of 7 elements. I would like to access $name, the 6th
element, of histograms A,B and

Why Wouldn't I Use Rails
I am starting a large project and still selecting what
framework to use.
Rather than ask brand x what is wrong with brand y, I am
more interested in self confession.
Why would I *not* want to use Rails (compared to Iowa and Nitro).
I posted a synopsis of the project to ruby-talk but will repost
it here if anyone wants it.
