Ferret::StateError while using acts_as_ferret
...hing unusual as far as I know -- just a call
to find_by_contents sorted by a timestamp (stored nontokenized). Can
anyone offer some advice on what I might be doing to cause this? I''m
also getting occasional segfaults (already submitted as a ticket on the
trac) but they don''t _appear_ to be tied to this error.

Plotting confidence bands around regression line
Dear R-helpers and graphics gurus,
I have two problems with plotting confidence bands:
1. First is relatively simple. I am using the Passing-Bablok procedure
to obtain "unbiased" regression coefficients. This procedure yields the
"a" & "b" coefficient values along with their confidence intervals. I
then plot the raw data with the regression line, but I would

joint stereo - advantages / when?
...f a difference at
higher than 128kbps (I quote: "To disable joint stereo encoding
(slightly faster, but less quality at bitrates <= 128 kbps)"), but this
could just be because one anyway doesn't hear much of a difference
between 128 and 160 kbps?
Secondly, this feature doesn't _appear_ to be too high on the priority
list. (Or is it just technically a lot more difficult than the other
features?) I know this is supposed to be in Vorbis 1.0, which should be
released before the end of the year. Is it likely that we will have to
wait until nearly 1.0 for jstereo, or are there plans to...

Dubious ifconfig / tcpdump behaviour
...gnored.
Does anyone have an idea what the cause could be? Have
I overlooked some obvious configuration issue, or
might tcpdump, ifconfig or any system routines they
call have been compromised? Sadly I hadn't installed
an intrusion detector such as tripwire previously, and
system logs don't _appear_ to show evidence of any compromise.

Problem installing tcltk on Solaris
I have built R 1.5.0, and tcl and tk 8.3.4 from sources on a Solaris
2.7 machine. All _appear_ to build successfully. tcl and tk pass
their test suites. They were configured to build shared libraries
(though I also tried it with tk not shared).
When I try to use tcltk, I get this error message:
> library(tcltk)

Check journal is replayable ?
Hello.
Is there a simple way, at a shell script level, of finding out whether an ext3 fs
has a sane journal, other than mounting it or running a full fsck ?
I may quite well be missing a few things here, but what I think I'd like is some option extra
to e2fsck that says "if this is a journalled filesystem, and it was shut down
uncleanly, just replay the journal and check for immediately

Dovecot not handling r/o mailboxes completely, and problem with ACL as a workaround
First of all, I think dovecot is really fantastic and I have thanks for all
the hard work. I think it will be the best fit for my ~5000 users when I
have it setup completely. We normally have approx 500 concurrent IMAP
connections during the day.
I am trying to convert from courier-imap to dovecot, but I have an issue with
public namespace folders that are not writable by certain users.

Bug: Limitation of <=2GB RAM in domU persists with 4.3.0
I just built 4.3.0 in order to get > 2GB of RAM in domU with GPU
passthrough without crashes. Unfortunately, the same crashes still
happen. Massive frame buffer corruption on domU before it locks up
solid. It seems the PCI memory stomp is still happening.
I am using qemu-dm, as I did on Xen 4.2.x.
So whatever fix for this went into 4.3.0 didn''t fix it for me.
