I need to compute generalized eigenvalues. The eigen function in base doesn't do it and I can't find a package that does. As I understand it, Lapack __can__ computer them (http://www.netlib.org/lapack/lawn41/node111.html) and R can use Lapack. If there is no function already, can I access Lapack from R and use those routines directly? Thank you, Joshua Gilbert.

...ssword is wrong. i've tried tons of stuff. the keychain has been reset. the client has been rebooted. the server has had samba restarted. i've tried 3.0.22, 3.0.24 compiled w/ ldap, and 3.0.24 compiled w/o ldap. all do the same thing. from ANOTHER mac (machine C), the same user from B __can__ get in. is there some cache on machine B i need to clear? it seems like it would have to be a file, since it survives reboot. thanks for any suggs. j.

...e log files showed that the password was correct for BOTH the Mac and the pc. i repeated this three times to make sure. the samba 3.0.22 server thinks the password i gave it is fine, but the client continues to say the password is wrong. i down-revved the samba server to 3.0.7. now the client Mac __can__ get it. i can't find out what the rev is on the Mac. there was one Mac at 3.0.10 which was able to access the samba server running 3.0.22, FWIW. j.
