[RFC] aptitude & BTRFS slowness
...create a snapshot of the
root filesystem before calling the aptitude. After the end of aptitude a double
call to sync, flush all the data on the disk. Finally the snapshot is removed.
The root of my filesystem is a btrfs subvolume (not the real root one).
Inspired by ArchLinux I called it "__active", and it is placed on the real
root of the btrfs filesystem. In order to manage the subvolume and its
snapshots I mount the real root of the btrfs filesystem under /var/btrfs
Before running aptitude my script creates a snapshot of "__active" subvolume
called "__rollback"...

[PATCH] Allow cross subvolume reflinks (2nd attempt)

The first attempt was NAKed due to missing vfs mount checks and a clear
description of what btrfs subvolumes are and probably also why cross
subvolume reflinks are ok in the case of btrfs. This version of the patch
comes from David and is in SUSE kernels since a long time, so it is tested
and working. The patch

my fiancé''s EEE S101 netbook, w/SSD, is failing hard. when booting
normally (subvol=__active), no special boot options, it hangs at
udev... it all started today, when it suddenly froze during normal
use, and i was forced to hard power off. it hasn''t started up
correctly since. using an Archlinux rescue usb disk (archboot), i
