isolinux, extlinux and accented characters
...#39;s working
like a charm.
I'm using it to boot a Linux distro I'm working on.
What I want to deal with is the display of accented characters in ISOLINUX.
First, I set EXTLINUX up to boot an ext2-formatted USB stick. No problem
so far.
I wrote a config file ordering to load a font (lat-9w) to display french
strings. The config file is
written in ISO-8859-1, as UTF-8 is not supported.
So everything's OK with EXTLINUX.
Now, ISOLINUX has some display problems with *exactly* the same
configuration as in EXTLINUX's.
Any accented character is broken. So I tried to mkisofs the...

Database left unlocked by Tcl bindings
I discovered, while trying to set up Tcl bindings for Notmuch
(https://notmuchmail.org/), which uses Xapian, that flintlock was not
being locked (I had lost updates).
I then found that opening a Xapian database for writing directly via
the Xapian Tcl bindings also silently fails to lock flintlock.
I have taken a copy of flint_lock.cc to play with, and I find that it
locks the file when called

Dumb Dialout Question
I'm still trying to learn some parts of Asterisk, so sorry in advance for the dumb question!
How do I set up an extension to dial out to the PSTN through my ZAP interfaces? I want the ability to have a ring group that will ring all of the phones in an office and then ring cell phones if nobody answers. I'm sure this is simple to do but I'm at a loss.
I have tried the following

logs such as messages, boot.log, and kernel contained 0 size
Hi,
My both CentOS 5 servers have logging problems. Logs such as messages, boot.log, kernel, spooler, and tallylog in /var/log directory are all 0 size.
The kernel is: Linux 2.6.18-92.1.22.el5 #1 SMP.
Since the /var/log/messages contained no information it would be impossible to troubleshoot the problem.
I am very sure both systems have not been hacked by others.
Sincerely,
Frank Ling

Encryption solution for messages at rest
Hi,
We have clients with various security & compliance requirements. Although not required, it would be ideal to have messages encrypted at rest. We already use SSL/TLS to secure the transmission of most email. However, it would be nice to have them encrypted sitting on our server. Is anyone doing this? I think that ideally, rather than full-disk encryption, we should use an encryption that
