very slow imap opens in pine after moving maildirs to new drive
Hi, I've been running dovecot-0.99.10 for the past several years, with virtually no problems. Lately, I noticed that the filesystem holding my users' imap maildirs was getting close to full. So... last night, I used tar to copy /var/spool/imap to a new drive (9G scsi, reiserfs) that I then mounted under /var/spool/imap (after moving the old dir aside). After the move, what would take pine a handful of seconds, with the load average barely breaking .40, now takes several minutes, with a load average spike to nearly 3. I must admit to being rather puzzled...

storage volume's size change
I have a question regarding storage volumes. I have uploaded a sparsed raw disk file to a storage volume, where virtual/max. size of the raw disk file is larger than size of the initial libvirt volume. Following is an example of commands: # Create storage volume of capacity 9G $ virsh-sys vol-create-as --pool pool-01 --name saturn.img --capacity 9G # Display volume info $ virsh-sys vol-info saturn.img --pool pool-01 Name: saturn.img Type: file Capacity: 9.00 GB Allocation: 36.11 MB # Upload raw disk file to the volume $ virsh-sys vol-uplo...

Logwatch for postfix
On CentOS5 with the latest updates applied, the logwatch filter for postfix returns way too many lines from the log. I get an "unmatched entries" message and all messages that have gone through the system is listed. Here is an example: 8F930A8092: to=<morten at foo.bar>, orig_to=<morten at localhost>, relay=local, delay=0.19, delays=0.06/0.01/0/0.12, dsn=2.0.0,

Filesystem that doesn't store duplicate data
Is there such a filesystem available? It seems like it wouldn't be too hard to implement... Basically do things on a block by block basis. Store md5 of a block in the table, and when writing a new block, check if the md5 already exists and then point the new block to the old block. Since md5 is not guaranteed unique, might need to do a diff between the 2 blocks and if the blocks are indeed

Do I have a problem? (longish)
Hi, to shorten the story, I describe the situation. Please see zpool(1M). /dev/dsk/c2t11d0s1 is part of SVM volume stripe:d11. Please see metaclear(1M). /dev/dsk/c2t11d0s2 is in use by zpool storedge. Plea...

Suggestions on building VM disks from scratch
This may not be the best forum to ask, but it does seem to be one where it is as likely as anywhere that someone will have dealt with a similar problem. I need to define a procedure for last resort disaster recovery from an incremental file level backup of the root partition (and any others that are critical.) Now it is easy enough to create a raw virtual disk with dd, then to losetup and do a

migrate from physical disk problems in xen
...been trying to migrate a win nt 4 machine to a xen domu for the past few months with no success. However, on my current attempt, the original hardware no longer boots, so I''m trying to resolve the issues with xen properly, or else take a long holiday... Anyway, the physical machine had a 9G drive (OS drive), a 147 G drive (not in use) and a 300G drive (all SCSI Ultra320 on the same SCSI controller) Everytime, I''ve booted linux, used dd to image the original 2 drives (ignored the 147G drive), and written each image with dd to an LV This is exported by iscsi to xen The c: wo...

File system usage
This is a simple question. How much file system overhead is there with this system? Is it only as large as the largest file transfered or could you potentially (even if configured correctly) end up with double what you started out with on the sending or receiving end? The reason I need to be sure is that I have a file system that's literally several hundred thousand files. Complete it's

Problems with foreign
Good day My name is Jos? Oscar, I'm from Mexico and I have some questions about foreign in your write.foreig( ) function. We know that this function generates the inputs to be able to run them or execute them in another program like SPSS, SAS or Stata. In these cases, when creating an example file, a matrix and using the function to execute the .sps file directly from SPSS, I don't care or
