problems with samba 3 and termnal server
hello folks dont know if this is a faq: a customer currently uses a Suse 9.2 pro with the last version of Samba to share a folder containing data for an Enterprise Management program (Windows based). everything works fine with local clients (many 98s and 1 XP machine). we have some (15) clients connecting to the ERP program via a Terminal Server (Windows2K server). these clients often stuck in some requests for 5 to 15 minutes (randomly) and then unlock and continue working. note that: - the same folder on a Win2000 machine works fine (ie....

MVC newbie question
All, Is it possible for a view to call back to a controller method? If so, what is the syntax? === details I have a list view that I want to filter out inactive rows based on several table fields being zero, old, etc. It would seem I should create a "filtered" method in the controller (which I have done). Then invoke if from the view like: for row in @rows continue if row.filtered

Memdisk booting XP DOS
...to be borrowed from WinME (v4.90.3000). I was trying to make a multiple boot CD with Bart's method: http://www.nu2.nu/bootcd/#multimemdisk but substituting Brads TCP boot disk instead of Barts: http://members.iinet.net.au/~bdriver/bootdisk/index.htm Brad uses XPs DOS as it is smaller than 98s (which Memdisk has no trouble with). For the time being I will convert Brads disk to 98SE DOS but I will have to loose some drivers to make room. =========================================================== Bob Whitworth HST LAN Support Goddard Space Flight Cent...

long username - netlogon problem - access denied
...is a good workaround. I have finally narrowed it down (I think) to the fact that these affected machines have problems logging in with usernames longer than 8 characters, (although they didn't used to). I have two usernames that are long that both cause troubles on the 'bad' '98s: administrator and alexandra. Both usernames can log in fine from several other Win'98 machines on the network. Plugging a 'good' Win'98 machine into the same cat 5 cable as a broken one does not break it. Creating user names of admin and az was the workaround. I'm just...

Wine sometime really surprise me
...(Classical games is another story, such as chess, and those "public domain") In order words, doesn't matter how old a game might be. it will not get obsolesce. When it come to "PC" Games. Windows really did a good job on retro games. they simply wouldn't work. Getting 98s games running in windows 7 is mostly impossible. But here come WINE. WINE really open up a "window" to Retro Games. A lot of great title that no long work on Windows are now work on Linux and other Platform with WINE. In Fact, some of them run ever faster then Windows.... But Again... F...

Rebuild of kernel 2.6.9-67.0.20.EL failure
Hello list. I'm trying to rebuild the 2.6.9.67.0.20.EL kernel, but it fails even without modifications. How did I try it? Created a (non-root) build environment (not a mock ) Installed the kernel.scr.rpm and did a rpmbuild -ba --target=`uname -m` kernel-2.6.spec 2> prep-err.log | tee prep-out.log The build failed at the end: Processing files: kernel-xenU-devel-2.6.9-67.0.20.EL Checking
