Thanks to the list for 3ware RAID info...
...2.6.18. The 9650SE driver is not in the Linux
kernel until 2.6.19. However, 3ware said they would be happy to
provide a driver disk to use with the installer, so it will be no big
deal. In case anyone else will find this useful, I would like to say
that I am planning to use these with a 975XBX2 logic board from Intel
(975X chipset). The 3ware rep said that the 9650SE card does work
with the 975XBX2 with the latest Intel firmware. I have built 4
servers (3 for Asterisk, 1 for MySQL) around this "desktop" board
and the all run CentOS very nicely.
Again, thanks for a...

How to diagnose "Unable to handle kernel paging request" kernel panic?
Does anyone know how to diagnose the error "Unable to handle kernel
paging request at virtual address xxxxxx"?
I got this error (followed by a panic and a crash) on a server
running CentOS 4.4 with the 2.6.9-42.0.8.ELsmp kernel. The machine
is based on an Intel 975XBX2 motherboard (975X chipset). I have
built several of these and they have been extremely stable. This one
is an Asterisk PBX. It was up for over a month before this crash.
Here is the exact kernel build info, from the restart log: "Linux
version 2.6.9-42.0.8.ELsmp (mockbuild at buil...

00:01.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation E7230 PCI Express Root Port (rev c0)
00:03.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 975X Express PCI Express Root Port (rev c0)
Has anyone similar hardware? maybe there is some kind of patch for kernel but i can`t find it.

Motherboard for home zfs/solaris file server
Hello,
I am building a home file server and am looking for an ATX mother board
that will be supported well with OpenSolaris (onboard SATA controller,
network, graphics if any, audio, etc). I decided to go for Intel based
boards (socket LGA 775) since it seems like power management is better
supported with Intel processors and power efficiency is an important
factor. After reading several

The best motherboard for a home ZFS fileserver
I''m a fan of ZFS since I''ve read about it last year.
Now I''m on the way to build a home fileserver and I''m thinking to go with Opensolaris and eventually ZFS!!
Apart from the other components, the main problem is to choose the motherboard. The offer is incredibly high and I''m lost.
Minimum requisites should be:
- working well with Open Solaris ;-)
