Icecast2 memory requirements
...Internet bandwidth required for the number of listeners.
I would like estimates of the amount of RAM required on the PC per
stream and per listener. The streams will all average 32kb/s. Any
ideas?
If we take an example of 1000 streams with 30 listeners each = 30000
individual streams @ 32kb/s = 960Mb/s. That doesn't sound like too
much. One T1 connection will handle that easily. But will IceCast and
one CPU handle that?

Ross Levis.

Error after moving to production server
so i have an after_create method on my track model that kicks off a
background process that converts an mp3 to a swf.
this is working fine locally on my machine, but upon moving it to my
production server, i am getting the following error. I''ve only been
using backgroundRB for like 48 hours, so i''m not really sure what
this means or where to go. any ideas?

Bug#520641: Cannot create HVM domain
This happens when there's not enough free memory to compensate the
memory overhead of domain creation, xend balloons down dom0 by 2MB
to work around this, but sometimes it's not enough.
Freeing more memory manually, or disabling ballooning of dom0
altogether (a good idea in any case) fixes it.

2GB (out of 15.3GB i.e. ~13%) seems pretty pathetic savings when we have a
single pie slice near 40% of the # of Value's allocated and another at 21%.
Especially this being "step 4".
As a rough back of the envelope calculation, dividing 15.3GB by ~...

real used RAM!
List, I've installed my CentOS Server running progress 9.1D database
system, with only 15 users working every day, this server has 2GB RAM,
so, my question is:
Why the 2GB of RAM is always used? Even with only one user connected...
How can I messuare the real RAM MEM used by my system split in proccess?
Is there another tools which I use to compare the results from top. Or
vmstat?

how to make puppet a killer app
I''ve been thinking about how to make Puppet a killer app, and I think there
is one specific thing that could be done to help make that happen:
People using Puppet now to consistently state what they *really* wish Puppet
could do for them -- the recent thread around Puppet on Windows is in that
vein, but it''s not specific enough. For example, I''d like to know what
