Greetings. I am in the process of installing 5.1 64 bit on a server. The server has 2 3ware cards: 9550SX 12 port, and a 8006 2 port, both SATA. I want the 8006 board to be /dev/sda, and the 9550 to be /dev/sdb. My plan is to install the os on /dev/sda (8006), and data on /dev/sdb (9550). Unfortunately, the 9550 comes up as /dev/sda. Is anyone having issues with these particular cards (especially the newer SATAII variant) and the stock CentOS kernels? Are they well supported enough such that a "yum update" suffices to keep them synced up with patches without having to hand edit the kernel or build special modules from 3Ware each time? Cheers,

I'm looking to do a bit more monitoring of my 3ware 9550 with smartd, and wanted to see what others were doing with smart for monitoring 3ware hardware. Do you have the smartd.conf configured to test, or simply monitor health status? Are you monitoring the drive as centos sees it (/dev/sdX) or are you using the 3ware /dev/twaX for monitoring?
