An even more strange win95 browsing problem
Hi, I posted a few messages a couple of days ago about a strange windows 95 browsing problem with samba-2.0.2, 1.9.17p4 that none of our Windows 95 users can see our Linux shares, but all NT users can see the Linux shares, and all 95 and NT users can see AIX shares. All of our Linux and AIX use the save version of samba (I tested 2.0.2 and 1.9.17p4). Yesterday, I tried t...

Formatting Syntax when Merging
Hi, I've merged the attached two data sets, generating a final merged data set, but when I review this merged data, the dates are not in the correct order. I know that this can be solved by using something like fmt<-"%m/%d/%y", but where should this go in the commands below? > Countrydata<-read.table("Desktop/R/Countrydata.txt", head=T, sep="\t")

Marking Interval Length
Hi everyone, I'm trying to break down data into intervals because I need to analyze data according to the intervals between each change in value. What I have done is merged the attached data files, and filled in the missing values this way: > fmt<-"%m/%d/%y" > dd<-read.csv("Desktop/R/CDSdate.txt") > dd$Date<-as.Date(dd$Date, fmt) >library(zoo)

Problem with seq.dates in chron
I get faulty output from seq.dates() if I specify a length that is too long. For example, I ask for 129 months in the following call to the function, but it returns 131: > R.version.string [1] "R version 1.9.1, 2004-06-21" > startdatetime <- chron(dates="01/01/1995", times="00:00:00") > beg.month.datetimes <- seq.dates(from=startdatetime, by="months", length=129) > beg.month.datetimes [1] 01/01/95 02/01/95 03/01/95 04/01/95 05/01/95 06/01/95 07/01/95 08/01/95 [9] 09/01/95 10/01/95 11/01/95 12/01/95 01/01/96 02/01/96 03/01...

Why 95% "quantile" empty in R or why 95% "quantile" = 1 with data values between 0 and 1?
I am calling quantiles as follows. I don't understand why sometimes the columns (data values) above 95% are returned as "NULL"!! When I drop the percentile down to 92%, I see colums appearing. Why would any quantile be empty? I see sometimes that 95% percentile is being chosen as "1" for my data between 0 and 1, where obviously there's no column value equal to 1. But why woul...

quantile question
Hi, A simple quantile question: I need to calculate the 95% and 5% quantiles (aka percentiles) for the following data: 67.12 64.51 62.06 55.45 51.41 43.78 10.74 10.14 if I use the formula: 95% quantile point= 95 (8+1)/100, I get the 8.55th point as the 95% quantile. Which does not make too much sense as I have only 8 data points. The other option is to us...
