rsync mechanics question
Hey All, I've been using rsync (2.6.9) to migrate a 90g message store volume and I'm running into some interesting results. I have two FC storage arrays attached to a Sunfire V280R, running Solaris 8. My 100gig volume is on a Sun StoreEdge 3510, and my new 500gig partition is on an HP EVA. I used the syntax: rsync -a --stats --delete $SRC/$dir/...

So, I stopped (destroyed) the domU, and then resized it as follows: lvresize /dev/data/cpanel1 -L10GB (It was 100GB), but when I a started it up again, I

smb transfer
...t I did was put together a program with my other Unix cohorts that connects up to 90 remote locations at a time and via smbclient....transfers a zip file that is created on the remote location and pulls it back to my corporate headquarters on a quad pentiumpro processor box with 512MB of memory and 90G of disk space running RH Linux 6.1 It works slicker than anything I've seen....but the only problem is that if I lose a connection halfway through a transfer....I have to restart the entire transfer all over again. These zip files I'm pulling over average approximately 14MB in size and tak...

ZFS userquota groupquota test
...ser and group quotas. First of all, it is fantastic. Thank you all! (Sun, Ahrens and anyone else involved). I''m currently copying over one of the smaller user areas, and setting up their quotas, so I have yet to start large scale testing. But the initial work is very promising. (Just 90G data, 341694 accounts) Using userquota@, userused@ and userspace commands are easy to pick up. With a test account with 50M quota, and a "while [ 1 ]" script copying a 5M file, it reaches about 120M before the user is stopped (as expected). The lazy-update-quota is not a problem for u...
