I thought it could be related to

using bitmap to make a multi-page pdf file results in duplication of (PR#908)
When I execute the following code:
bitmap("test.pdf",type="pdfwrite")

Hi the list
I have package foo0 with a big dataset 'myData'.
In DESCRIPTION, if I use 'LazyData: no', then I get:

S4 Method Collisions with "[" (PR#4075)
Full_Name: Colin A. Smith
Version: 1.8.0
OS: Mac OS X 10.2.6
Submission from: (NULL) (216.102.90.18)
Both Biobase and my package annaffy use S4 classes to define methods for "[".
Both packages use the save image method of installation. (See annaffy 1.0.3 in
BioC CVS.)
Depending on how both packages are loaded, the Biobase definitions seem to be
getting masked out:

R and XML -- a near perfect combination?
Please ignore my ignorance, I'm new to R,
but starting a longish project that will use R a lot.
(a computer scientist learning about stats at the
same time).
Did anybody alreay write a XML parser for R?
XML, as we will have tons of data-interchange with
all sorts of other programs and XML is good for giving
meaning to raw data.
I checked the FAQs and the documentation, but didn't find

R as a daemon?
I have a GNU/Linux / Unix application in which I'd like to have an R
process running in a persistant state, while receiving instructions (and
data) from another process, and returning results to this process.
My initial thoughts are to set something up with named pipes or such,
but I believe that the R process will terminate when it reads EOF (^D)
from the input pipe. The client process is

Parsing of HTML files in R
Is there any package similar to the XML package that is able to
"extract" relevant information from HTML files. Namely, I'm interested
in obtained data that is represented as a HTML table, into some R-type
structure.
Thank you.

This is an absolutely beginner's question: which compiler should I use to

Thanks a lot.

multi-threaded R current status?
Hi All,
What is the current status of removing the global variables etc that is
required to permit multi-threading R?
I'm developing a web application tool for/using R, python (www.python.org),
and Zope (www.zope.org), and it would be really convenient if I could use
something like RPy to communicate with several concurrent R sessions,
preferably within the same process space.

[ and setMethod conflict?
I noticed this oddity about [ and setMethod.
First, I define testFunc, which sorts a data frame by the first column and
returns the entries that aren't NAs, and testIt, which runs testFunc
repeatedly on a random large data frame, each time saving the return into a
dummy placeholder (for demonstration's sake).
