Samba Gigabit very very slow?
...speed on my samba server, I just uppgraded to gigabit (Realtek 8169 NIC) at home when i copy stuff from the samba server i get around 5-6Mb/sec and if i use ftp to access the same file on the same server i get almost 30Mb/sec does anyone have a clue what causes this problem? When i used my old 3com 905c for the local net i got normal 100Mbit speed (around 10-12Mb/sec) My system: Debian Unstable Kernel 2.6.3 Athlon XP 2200+ 512Mb DDR 2x 120Gb hdd Realtek 8169 Gigabit NIC 3Com 905c 10/100Mbit Best regards Jonas

memdisk problems
Hello, I have a compaq machine with compaq smart array raid and with 3com 905C 10/100 TXM network card (supporting PXE). I have setup an dhcp and tftp server for serving pxelinux.0 , memdisk and my dos images along with linux images (vmlinuz, initrd). Booting with vmlinuz and initrd is working fine on any machine but when I'm booting with memdisk along with dos image the...

Very slow download with pxelinux > 4.07 on specific hardware
Yes on optiplex 790 i upgraded from A07 to A18 (there was a nic upgrade) but it didn't change anything.. On optiplex 380 i upgraded from bios A01 to A07(don't know if upgrade contained pxe or not)... I tried, lpxelinux.0 and it wasn't faster. Only v4.07 helped on these machines. Tomorrow, i will give a try with 6.03pre2. In wireshark, i saw no errors, the packet length was the

Ping interrupts and SSH laggy
Hi, i have succesfully configured Xen 3.0.4 with 2.6.16 kernel on some C2D hw with currently 2GB RAM. Only hitch was with the integrated Intel Gigabit network card which is not supported by by default xen kernel - so there is e1000 module compiled from intel sources. Server is connected on 100Mbit ethernet line. Network setting is currently bridged. At the moment 4 domUs with various linux PV

...ics. I'm using: - homegrown Linux-2.4.21-preSomething-acSomethingElse (booting well from a floppy disk on the same machine) - tftp-hpa 0.34, without remap, without tcpwrappers on Linux - pxelinux.0 from syslinux 2.04 - a compaq deskpro 2000 (model 120) with most recent updates - a 3com 905c with PXE 2 stack (I might need to update firmware, going to try that in a minute) - Patrick Rondat's guitar music for moral support Am I missing something? I bet it's something so bloody obvious... grtz, Tijn -- 8:33PM up 38 days, 7:44, 3 users, load averages: 0.29, 0.21, 0.17

I did some additional tests : On a dell optiplex 380, i disabled internal nic, added a 3com 905c tx external pci nic : very slow too. On a dell 740(which is always fast), i put the 3com to be sure : very fast. So it seems it is not related to the nic itself. To be sure it wasn't just one failing computer i tested several 380. I tried disabling several features in bios, like Execute Dis...

HTB stalling
Hi Couple months ago I started to have a strange problem with HTB. My setup is Fedora Core 2 + Pentium 2 233 + 128 MB of ram and its serving as a router. For some time since going to kernel 2.6 my HTB QoS Stalls for couple seconds, every couple minutes. If the connection load is bigger the stalling is more frequent and takes longer. I isolated the problem to be with HTB (CBQ works fine). The

NT_STATUS_NO_LOGON_SERVERS after removing a DC and WERR_BADFILE when trying to remove broken DC
Situation: Trying to upgrade Samba from 4.1 to 4.5 without disruption too much by adding new DCs and demoting old ones. After bringing online the first 4.5 DC, I ran `demote --remove-other-dead-server=` on that DC to remove one of the old 4.1 DCs (held no FSMO roles). That seemed to run fine (the DC had been offline for a few weeks at that point and I didn't want to restore it just for
