tinc 1.1pre19 slower than tinc 1.0, experimentalProtocol even more
...). Iperf between
two nodes directly reports around 940Mbit/s. The CPUs are Intel(R) Core(TM)
i7-4770 CPU @ 3.40GHz, the hosts are running debian wheezy (kernel
3.2.54-2), the aesni module is loaded. OpenSSL is at 1.0.1e.
On tinc 1.0, with cipher aes-128-cbc and digest sha1, I managed to get
around 900Mbit/s throughput (iperf, simplex, both tinc daemons at 90% CPU
utilisation). Switching to a null-cipher came up with only marginally
better throughput. Note, this is from memory, can't find my notes
unfortunately.
Reading about tinc 1.1, specifically the use of a GCM cipher suite to
reduce the cos...

Looking for new ideas to improve linux router performace
Hello,
I have 2 dual CPU Xeon 3Ghz HT enabled Linux routers and each one of them
serving 2 class C with pick traffic on router about 300Mbit full duplex
2 x Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82546GB Gigabit Ethernet
Controller (rev 03)
1GB ram
And
2 x Ethernet controller: Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme BCM5703 Gigabit
Ethernet (rev 10)

Both routers have about 600

debugging really high network usage with no apparent cause
...ve use (on the server) is
fine then, though fileservice speed is definitely maxed out at
wirespeed when i run tests on a quiet network (spread between all the
clients. single clients only manage around 350Mbit/sec, but i
attribute that to windows, not the server, since it can talk scp at
closer to 900Mbit/sec to another linux machine and i can run more than
one ~300Mbit smb stream at a time to different clients).
so i checked the smbd/nmbd/winbindd logs and see nothing strange. i
fire up wireshark on the clients and holy crap there is a lot of
traffic when there should be none! i filtered out bro...

fxp performance with POLLING
Hello again :)
With POLLING enabled I experience about 10%-25% performance drop when
copying files over network. Tested with both SAMBA and NFS. Is it normal?

GPL PV drivers for Windows 0.9.11-pre12
I''ve just uploaded 0.9.11-pre12 of the GPL PV drivers for Windows.
Since -pre10 (and -pre11) I''ve fixed a heap of crashes that were
plaguing xennet under load, and also rewritten the interrupt/event
distribution logic to improve performance.
Under windows 2003 I can now get network speeds of 1-2Gbit/second TX and
600Gbit/second RX, which is considerably better than I was
