3ware 9000 install
I'm trying to do a fresh install on a new server that has a 3ware 9000

with the drivers for RH WS3 (Update 2) but it doesn't work. After it asks me to
load the disk it reads for a while and then it says it did not find any drivers
that pertain to this system. I tried loading the 3w9xxx d...

Large data sets in R
As a new user of R, I'm wondering what the maximum matrix size is in R?
I have a large data set consisting of 9000 people and want to be able to
create large matrices involving these. Is R suitable for large data
sets?
Thanks

Shoutcast Compatibility
...he Sam Encoder in Shoutcast mode just fine to
the server, however, when anyone attempts to connect to the server using the
Shoutcast DSP plug-in, they eventually get connected to the server but
quickly get dropped with the message "connection to remote server lost".
The server is on port 9000. I've specified an arbitrary mount point name,
set a listen port at 9000 and another at 9001 which has the ShoutcastCompat
flag on.
Does anyone have any ideas? I would be happy to supply the xml file with
garbage passwords if anyone has the time to take a look.
Thanks in advance.

Correlation of huge matrix saved as binary file
...file I use mmap and some
api-functions (to get all values in one row, one column, or one particular
value). I'm looking for some advice in how to calculate the correlation
matrix. Right now my approach is to do something similar to this (toy code):
corr.matrix<-matrix('numeric',ncol=9000,nrow=9000)
for (i in 1:9000) {
for (j in (i+1):9000) {
# i1=... getting the index of item (i) in a second file
# i2=....getting the index of item (j)
g1=api$getCol(i1)
g2=api$getCol(i2)
cor.matrix[i,j]=cor(g1,g2)
}}
This will work, but will take forever. Any advice for how this can be done

some time now, for simple read-only filesharing. Three days ago I
decided to get a bit more clever....
I now have a test server and I'm trying to get it to work against our
