Poor sound quality on anything other than "emulation"
I want to make sure this isn't something that only I'm getting. When the audio acceleration is set to anything other than "emulation" for me, the sound quality is poor (it sounds like a low bit-rate mp3, or sort of like mid-90's quality game sound). I have had this problem for as long as I can remember; it was present in Fedora Core before I switched to Gentoo a while ago. Is this a known issue with wine, or is it something unique to my setup?

Installing Ruby gems on RPM-based systems
When I first got involved with Red Hat (back with 5.2 in the early 90's) I learned the hard way not to use language-specific packaging systems like CPAN for Perl because they'd conflict with RPM's database and make it much harder to manage what was installed on my system. If I now need a package for which no RPM is available, I'll use a utility li...

Open thougts about the project governance & workflow
...o see the workflow being more defined and more distributed to workaround the missing of peter. He's very loaded so we have to help him. We cannot push the whole responsability on him to take care of patches, merging, testing and release. I really wonder if we could make our workflow being less 90's like. I mean sending patches to a ML and waiting for someone to take care of it and finally forgetting it. Ady made a serious job tracking them for a while and then decided to stop because it was too much energy for very few returns. Gene is also maintaining a tree on his side but what is in...

My Phone Review- Large Scale Corp Deployment.
...onal. They are abit more difficult to program then others. You must find the SIP firmware, and be very familiar with TFTP to deploy these phones- However once you get a hand of them, they are a rock. Zulty WIP 2- THESE PHONES ARE AWESOME!!! AWESOME!!! WiFi SIP phones- They look like an early 90's wireless phone, but they are VERY well built, and work extremely well- If you are looking for a serious WIFI SIP phone, this is the unit for you. Trust me, I tested 3 of the other popular WIFI sip phones, and they are cheaply made- even the Linksys- other WiFI phones are built like cheap...

...hines (experimenting with Compiere CRM/ERP) I'm really tempted to put her to work. Unless somebody already has a really slick solution to this I'd be very curious (and appreciative) to hear people's thoughts. BTW: I was involved in bizarre telephony billing systems back in the early 90's with International Callback. I'm not a heads down programmer, but a math major/cs minor, so the fascination for me is in solving the problem of creating a sort of "rating engine," but not writing every line of the code. I'm located in Argentina, so I have great resources o...

Ubuntu Auth Issues with new repository code..
?? Saw the new repository notification, and figured what the heck I would try letting it upgrade me from the current v2.2.22 release that apparently is in the Ubuntu 16.04 packages, to the new repository release of v2.3.0. ?I followed the info on repo.dovecot.org, and first it started bitching about lmtp (dovecot: master: Fatal: service(lmtp) access(/usr/lib/dovecot/lmtp) failed: No such

...hey're working to make the "community" edition run on, IIRC, debian based Linux. Perhaps that's likely to ease some of these issues. If so, I might re-consider. But it's far from a given. [LLVMdev] Thinking about "whacky" backends
Hi Nate, I've successfully ported one bitcode from Linux to Mac to Windows.  All were x86 and the program was text-based, but I'd say my LLVM Wrapper would be worth some effort in the future if I could just get some help.  Currently it just wraps StdIO.h with its own functions. Here's some of what it would take to make portable bitcodes in C or LLVM Assembly: * Convert all

php libvirt show active snapshot
