Centos 5.2 install problem
Hi, I'm trying a fresh install on a x86_64 (Supermicro X7dbe, 2xIntel Xeon X5450, 8 GB, 3WARE 9650SE-8LPML, 3 disks in RAID 5). The format takes quite long (2,7 TB), that seems to be normal, but then the first boot will not take place, instead the system loops. Any hints? The message follows: Regards Michael Mounting root filesystem. mount: could not find filesystem '/dev/root' Setting up other...

3Ware 9650SE tuning advice
Hello fellow sysadmins! I've assembled a whitebox system with a SuperMicro motherboard, case, 8GB of memory and a single quad core Xeon processor. I have two 9650SE-8LPML cards (8 ports each) in each server with 12 1TB SATA drives total. Three drives per "lane" on each card. CentOS 5.2 x86_64. I'm looking for advice on tuning this thing for performance. Especially for the role of performing as either an NFS datastore for VMware or an iSCSI one. I s...

Panics and freeze using age0
I'm running FreeBSD 7.1-PRERELEASE over Asus P5Q motherboard. Such board comes with an nic requiring age0 driver. When the nic is under load, such trasferring big amount of data over gigabit connection (let's say some gigabyte backups), the computer hangs, sometimes with panic, sometimes freezing. Before that i was using an Intel nic with em0 driver and 7.0-Stable#2.. and that
