too much cpu system time with kernel 2.6.9-22.0.2.EL
I'm running a server recently installed with centos 4.2.
It's running the kernel in the subject line, on an PIII 866Mhz with
512mb ram.
The system is running basically two processes:
1) ssh to remote system, receiving a stream of bytes
piped into
2) gzip the stream, write to disk file
The system is slow, relatively (866Mhz cpu) and the network is fast
(gigabit) so the limiting factor should be CPU.
And it is....

I wonder if PXELINUX also fails to boot a Linux kernel.
Or should the 'works/works not' be read
for 'KERNEL elf.c32' and 'APPEND rtems_executable' combination?
In other words:
There might be a "elf.c32 pl...

bitstream problem: resyncing...
This one really has me stumped.
I'm running 866MHz, 256MB RAM, 80GB Disk (7200RPM) on Linux-mandrake 8.2

Sorry for the long email but I'm hoping to get someone out there that's seen
this before and give me some advice...

How big is *your* dialplan??
Hello!
In my relentless quest for knowledge, I pose this question: who's got
the biggest
dialplans, and how big are these monsters?
What's the biggest dialplan in use right now? If you feel you are a
competitor,
let me know how many contexts/extensions/priorities you are dealing
with. Maybe the
context with the most extensions, the extension with the most priorities
would be

ices behaves unpredictably in the face of VBR mp3s. It's on the TODO
list, but I've never had the time to really inve...

/bin/sh eats memory and CPU infinitely

end
Run it and watch how /bin/sh slowly increases
its SIZE, RES, WCPU and CPU values.
This is an exapmle. My real script grows upto 70Mb in size
and eats all of idle Pentium-III 866Mhz cycles, it is
machine-generated and runs 24x7x365. It's twice smaller
than this test case.
Now I have to restart it from time to time.

Realtime queues with Firebird SQL through unixodbc
...my queue is partially working because callers can join the

both of which ran without showing the error. I don''t know what to make
of it. I am not suspecting a hardware error since the message does not
show up when running on non-xen kernels.

Platform: RHEL 4 Beta 3
Hw: IBM xSeries 200, with a 866Mhz Pentium III and 512MB RAM,

OpenGL drivers haven't been installed correctly
The BOINC project has a screensaver that runs on Windows. I installed BOINC in a virtual machine running Windows XP (32 bit) and copied boinc.scr from the C:\Windows directory onto my 64 bit F13 system. When I run the screensaver I get an error. Any feedback is appreciated. I can run glxgears without any problem.
$ wine boinc.scr
Wine cannot find the ncurses library (libncurses.so.5).

More about firewalling
Hi All,
So before when I used PIX's for my employer, our traffic was
statically routed to one IP and then the firewall decided if allowed/
denied and passed it on or dropped it.
I have a Comcast business circuit with 13 IP's. The gateway device
they provide is a 'pass through' device. They sent traffic for all 13
IP's my way. It just allows traffic through. So if I put

MeetMe CPU resources
Hello,
We would like to have a conference with 15 users aprox. We think that
Pentium 4 3GHz and 1GB of RAM should be enough. Only Asterisk running.
We wonder if somebody has some other experience, good or bad.
We will use Asterisk 1.2 (it is a small and short project for only
this).
Thanks!
