converting numbers to characters
...to convert numbers to characters in order
to index an array when I encountered the number
100000 which turned into "1e+05".
Does anyone know how to get around this problem?

Is there a package to do the opposite of Samba?

read.xls counts more rows than I really have in my Excel file

Persistence for statistical models

Is there a way to write statistical models (trees, naïve Bayes, SVM, etc) to a file and import them again without loss of information?

A question on memory size
...to do simulation. Even I added a commend
line in the shortcut on my desktop for R. I still get a message saying
reached total memory allocation of 502 Mb. Any suggestions will be welcome.
