NextMethod causes R 2.2.0 to crash (PR#8416)
I found writing the following default method the for the generic function "julian" causes R to crash. julian.default <- function(x, ...) { x <- as.Date(x) NextMethod("julian", x, ...) } Here is a test example > m <- as.Date("1972-09-27") + 0:10 > m [1] "1972-09-27" "1972-09-28" "1972-09-29"

msaccess odbc driver not working
I have problems import ms access 2000 data into Word 2000. The error is: DDE connection failed. Browsing the internet I found out that ms access uses ODBC for this (am I correct?). I have installed MDAC_TYP.EXE like in the Winehq documentation. I think that the msaccess driver doesn't work o.k. To reproduce: Run wine c:\windows\system\ODBCAD32.EXE --> in

Putting /etc in cvs
Hi, I'd like to put my servers' config files in cvs to make it easier to manage (yes, I know about Cfengine). I've been looking for a tutorial and I could find any, and since I'm not a CVS guru, I tried a few things, without even knowing if I'm doing it right. Any hints? Regards, -- Ugo -> Please don't send a copy of your reply by e-mail. I read the list.

How to read data sequentially into R (line by line)?
..., I'm trying to read it sequentially and write it out in several .csv files (or .RData files) and then read these into R one-by-one. One record in this data is between lines GG!KK!KK! and GG!KK!KK!. I tried to implement Jim Holtman's approach (http://tolstoy.newcastle.edu.au/R/e6/help/09/03/8416.html) but the problem is how to avoid cutting one record from the middle? I mean that if I put nrows = 1000000, I don't know if one record (between marks GG!KK!KK! and GG!KK!KK! is ending up in two files). How to avoid that? My code so far: zz <- file("myfile.txt", "r")...

dom0 - oom-killer - memory leak somewhere ?
Hello, I work in a hosting company, we have tens of Xen dom0 running just fine, but unfortunately we do have a few that get out of control. Reported behaviour : - dom0 uses more and more memory - no process can be found using that memory - at some point, oom killer kicks in, and kills everything, until even ssh the box becomes hard - when there is really no more process to kill, it crashes
