is Intel VT-d "really" necessary?
...ould like some input from the community on this
one. We're busy budgeting for a couple of new servers and I thought it
would be good to try out the Core i7 CPU's, but see the majority of
them don't offer VT-d, but just VT-x. Looking at the LGA1366 range,
only the "Intel lga1366 i7 980XE" (from the list of what our suppliers
stock) have VT-d, and it costs 4x more than "Intel lga1366 i7 930" or
2x more than "Intel lga1366 i7 960". From a budget perspecitve I could
purchase 4 more CPU's, which could translate to 40x - 80x more VM's
being hosted for t...

Video codec
Hi,
I guess this is a good time to start putting together a wish list for a
video codec.
I see that for audio the compression is around 10X for reasonable quality.
I am sure this will start its own thread of conversation.
For video you can do 40X fairly easily and the big task is to go to 80X or
100X with reasonable picture quality, say, a peak luma SNR of more than 30
dB. Uncompressed Professional Quality video (called "D1" see below), like
the one at TV stations before broadcast, is 216 Mbps. Smaller resolutions
have less bps of course.

i would like to know if anyone has done or having idea regarding PRI
terminations in asterisk.
i have a requirement where i need to support 80 PRI in one machine i have
found a machine which have 10 PCI slots available
now i am thinking of arranging 8port sangoma card in this pci slots so i
