Problem in encoding/decoding speech in Win CE
Hi, I am trying to encode raw wave data stored in a buffer using the Speex API (The raw wave data is created using the waveIn* functions - probably irrelevant information here). It is a 5 second clip, 16bits/sample, 8000Hz mono (which gives a buffer size of 80kb for the wave data). I have followed the exact procedure found in the manual available from the web site, except that instead of writing the speex stream into stdout, I am writing it onto a file from where I read later to decode. It decodes to 80kb (as expected). While I can reproduce tapp...

How to bypass traffic control for one IP
Hi all, i have a problem: i have an adsl modem that is connected to internet. I can''t manage this modem. Between my PC and the modem i have a linux firewall that make the NAT and the traffic shapping. I have create a script that limit the bandwidth of the "external" interface of the firewall so i can manage my bandwidth for my internet application. The problem is that i need to

Dear list, I ''m using a text input field with autocompletion . The suggestions come from a ferret index which is created by getting all the terms belonging to other indices. Here is the code: class Suggestion attr_accessor :term def self.index(create) [Person, Project, Orgunit].each{|kl| terms = self.all_terms(kl) terms.each{|term| suggestion =

CVS RC4 -q0 too good!
...e happy now with a particular quality setting, later releases will produce the same quality but reduce the average bitrate. This is not currently the case. IMHO -q4 in CVS is producing almost perfect results and features audio frequencies up to 21khz -- almost CD quality. In my opinion -q1 (80kb/s) is producing results similar or better than mp3@128. Why not reduce the nominal bitrate down a couple of steps. Of course some additional tuning will be required. q 0.0 = 48kb/s (13khz lowpass) q 1.0 = 56 (14khz) q 2.0 = 64 (15khz) q 2.5 = 72 q 3.0 = 80 q 4.0 = 96 (default) q 5.0 = 11...

Performance Issues Degradation After 6 Calls
I am using Asterisk and A2billing Calling Card Platform and after the 6th call the quality starts to degrade. The way it set up is the user calls into the system then dial out so I have 12 channels being used up but 6 active calls. Here are my specs Asterisk SVN-branch-1.4-r79142 on a i686 running Linux Fedora 6, Pentium 4 Hyper-Threading, 64 bit, 1GB of RAM, 80 GB Sata Drive, bandwidth 4 Mbps

Audio problems 50% of the time.
I have an Asterisk server that I use at work. I have a phone that is at home that logs into the Asterisk server at work. My home phone is hooked up via DSL through a Linksys router. You can see the my sip.conf for the phone blow. The problem is each time the phone rings I can hear/be heard 50% of the time. Any suggestion on what to look for. I do have my reg time set for 180 seconds on the

While a reasonable concern, I'm doubtful there are many machines for which the current numbers are optimal. The current minimum size increases for node and vector heaps are 40KB and 80KB respectively. This grows as the heap grows (min + .05 * heap), but still means that we do many more expensive garbage collections at while growing than we need to. Paradoxically, the SMALL_MEMORY compile option (which is suggestd for computers with up to 32MB of RAM) has slightly larger at 50KB an...

Brandwidth for making internet calls
My ADSL connection speed is 512Kb up and 128Kb down. When making calls from Asterisk to IAX and back to the Asterisk, the sound is choppy and 20% of voice messages was lost. What is the production bandwidth requirement per internet call. I understand there is no guarantee of QoS but at least a benchmark to follow. -- David Kwok Iaxtel/FWD # 17001813482 -------------- next part

which codec over iax => pstn
using asterisk(A) over iax to another asterisk server(B) which connects to pstn over pri. Doesn't B have translate to ulaw whatever goes out to the pstn, so therefore shouldn't A choose ulaw as the iax codec to B? That way there's no loss translating from {gsm, ildc, etc} to ulaw on the B server. My partner thinks I'm nuts, and that gsm is much more "efficient" as

MAXScript over SAMBA
...3ds max script from a samba share versus a windows share. From a windows share, the total time it takes for the script to run and the application to become responsive is about 1 second. When running the same script from a samba share, the process takes around 40 seconds. The script itself is 80KB. Copying identical files from either server yields similar times. Output from tcpdump on the samba server shows a multitude of small (63-65 bytes) data transfers back and forth between the client-server with the PUSH flag set in the packet. This output continues for the ~40 seconds until 3ds...

sound quality / size
...kHz and encoding files in any other may result in degraded quality. How worried should I be? Is the advantage in size lost due to crappy quality (versus 44.1kHz mono files)? comment: twinhq 96kb/s and oggvorbis beta4 ~100kb/s are virtually identical. however, once twinhq is dropped down to 80kb/s, all hell breaks loss and they sound shot-to-shit. they hardly compare to 50kb/s OggVorbis files. I used the latest version of the twinhq encoder (as of last week). -- noodlez: Karol Pietrzak GPG/PGP-KeyID: 0x3A1446A0 --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg projec...

If "I/MY" server goes over 60gigs per month or 100 I have to pay. If that happens I have to charge more per stream 1-2$ or so. I am putting...
