GNBD and DRBD kernel mods
Hi all,
I am using heartbeat and drbd on CentOS 5 (see http://www.centos.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=7816&forum=41 for details)..
DRBD and heartbeat are working, and now I want to put GNBD on top on this. However, I installed the latest CentOS-plus kernel (2.6.18-8.1.8.el5.centos.plus) but there doesn't appear to be a kmod-gndb for this kernel.
Looks like the latest

yum kernel update problem
On the subject of kernel updates:
I had my install kernel (2.6.18-8.el5xen) and 2.6.18-8.1.8.el5xen on the box.
I was unable to originally boot the update (8.1.8xen) because of the 3ware
driver issues (I needed to use a driver floppy at install time).
I jumped through some hoops (which I am struggling to understand) with
weak-updates to get the 2.6.18-8.1.8 kernel to see my raid devices, which

Adaptec 39320A woes
I'm having speed problems with the SCSI card we're using to do tape
backup. It seems to be functioning in 16 bit mode and the current
thinking is that perhaps it's using a legacy driver instead of the
correct one. The Adaptec site has a 'driver' for RHEL5 which I've
downloaded and tried to install but it seems to have a problem
installing on a CentOS-5 system.

System Rebooted by 2.6.18-8.1.8.el5
Hello,
I have a machine that seemed to reboot by itself yesterday, in
/var/log/messages I only see:
Mar 25 14:26:45 asterisk shutdown[19256]: shutting down for system reboot
When I type: last reboot
I see:
reboot system boot 2.6.18-8.1.8.el5 Tue Mar 25 14:28 (18:41)
So it seems like the kernel rebooted, but I'm not sure how I can track
down why, any pointers?
Thanks!

VMWare hiccup on CentOS 5, 2.6.18-8.1.8
For reasons which escape me, my VMWare Server, which was working perfectly a
week ago when I shut down my machine for vacation, no loner comes up with
the formerly working Windows XP system - it just stays in the small window
where it normally boots and does nothing.
The vmware serverd log shows nothing particularly interesting, and I have
reconfigured the vmware twice to try and fix this (which

tomcat error on x86_64 with 2.6.18-8.1.8.el5xen & jre 1.6.*
I get the same error as this person:
http://www.centos.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=9349
Like the poster, I get the error with tomcat 6.0.13 on
x86_64, kernel 2.6.18-8.1.8.el5xen and both jre 1.6.0_01 and
1.6.0_02
When I revert to jre 5u12 on the same kernel, I don't get
the problem.
If I stay with jre 6, but use kernel 2.6.18-8.el5, I also
don't get the error.

Howto install domU CentOS 5 directly on partition
Hi.
I am new to CentOS (Debian user) and I am looking for way how to install
CentOS 5 on domU in the way that I have it directly on dom0 LVM partition.
If I install it with virtual-manager then the installation program takes
that partition as a disk and then creates new partitions on it. I don''t
want it that way because I cannot then mount it from dom0.
Is there some way how to

HELP, I accidentally initialized my /boot partition
So I installed a second drive in my system today, and instead of
typing "mkfs.ext3 /dev/sda1" I did a "mkfs.ext3 /dev/hda1".
Fortunately, that was just my /boot partition. I thought I could
just copy the contents from the /boot partition from another system,
but that didn't work as expected. The again, I don't have another
system that's identical to the

I'm new to this list and joined since I am volunteering as a tech

Xen stress testing for production
Hi --
I''m just a little nervous about deploying my Xen VMs. Will they perform
when in actual production? How stable is Xen, really?
So, I thought I would do some stress testing before deploying it. I''d
like to test VMs running various services, alone and all together...
DNS, HTTP/S, Tomcat, IMAP/SMTPD.
Does anyone here have suggestions for load generating software? Or, has

centos5/xen does not see all memory
I have a server with 6 gigs of memory. CentOS5/Xen sees only half of
it. Could someone advice me how to get it recognize all my memory?
I have installed 32bit CentOS5 and I'm running
kernel-xen-2.6.18-8.1.8.el5. This kernel should have PAE support:
$ grep PAE /boot/config-2.6.18-8.1.8.el5xen
CONFIG_X86_PAE=y
But xentop reports only 3 gigs of memory:

Kernel 2.6.18-53.1.13.el5 fails on network.
Hi all,
After the latest lot of kernel security updates have come out, I updated one
of my colo boxes and rebooted. It didn't come back up and fails when booting
on:
* CPU Microcode update
* iptables
* eth0
The booting process completes, however as you can imagine, there is no
network connectivity at all. The only config changes were installing the new
kernel. Booting back into

My server won't boot (grub looping - stage2)
Hi,
This morning one of my servers (centos 4.5) refused to boot. The console
shows a lopp message grub loading stage2...
I've been able to boot from the install CD choosing the rescue option. I
can chroot /mnt/sysimage with no problems and even started the services
(network, mysql , httpd etc).
How can I solve this?
