strange dial problem with polycom 501
...ursor might jump right back to the beginning of the number. This doesn't happen when they enter the number and the press "dial", so it seems to be a digitmap problem. However, the digitmap is nearly the same as what I've used on IP-500s in the past. It is: "[0]|*8|*2xx|#5|#7x|[278]xx|[9]11|9411|9x.T" [Actually it was " [0]|*8|*2xx|#5|#7x|[278]xx|[9]11|9411|9x.T" -- I don't know where that space came from, but I'll take it out and test again today.] Are there any obvious problems with that digitmap? Anything else that I should take a look at? T...

Logwatch for postfix
On CentOS5 with the latest updates applied, the logwatch filter for postfix returns way too many lines from the log. I get an "unmatched entries" message and all messages that have gone through the system is listed. Here is an example: 8F930A8092: to=<morten at foo.bar>, orig_to=<morten at localhost>, relay=local, delay=0.19, delays=0.06/0.01/0/0.12, dsn=2.0.0,

Polycom dialplan restriction
I am having a problem with some Polycom 601 phones. If I dial without picking up the handset or selecting the speaker I can dial numbers that are any lenght. But if I pick up the handset or are using the speaker I can only dial numbers that are 8 digits. When I dial the 8th digit it dials immediately. Obviously this creates problems when I am dialing long distance numbers or anything that

Performance advantages of spool with 2x raidz2 vdev"s vs. Single vdev
Hi guys, I am about to reshape my data spool and am wondering what performance diff. I can expect from the new config. Vs. The old. The old config. Is a pool of a single vdev of 8 disks raidz2. The new pool config is 2vdev''s of 7 disk raidz2 in a single pool. I understand it should be better with higher io throughput....and better read/write rates...but interested to hear the science

It seems (general impression on my part) to be replacing ibus in a lot of places, in the same way ibus gradually replaced scim. -- Scott Robbins PGP keyID EB3467D6 ( 1B48 07...

xennet windows pv performance
...testing as above I get: Windows (vcpus = 2) - ~65MBits/sec - ~100% cpu utilization (eg 100% on both cpu''s) Linux - can''t test as I don''t have any Linux DomU''s set up presently. I don''t think there is enough difference in raw CPU power to account for the 7x performance difference between the two physical machines... it must be something else. Anyway, on the second machine my performance is up from about 40MBits/sec so I think I''m making progress. Huge write amplification with thin provisioned logical volumes
...00000 oflag=dsync For a 30MB/s write at the application level I get around 1000MB/s write at the device level, i.e. a 33x amplification. On Centos 6 if I try to align the data using the values from https://gluster.readthedocs.io/en/latest/Administrator%20Guide/Setting%20Up%20Volumes/ I get only a 7x amplification. On Cetos 7 I can see the same 7x amplification using the default lvcreate options. This is the Centos 7 iotop output: 12:48:29 Total DISK READ : 0.00 B/s | Total DISK WRITE : 32.24 M/s 12:48:29 Actual DISK READ: 0.00 B/s | Actual DISK WRITE: 226.63 M/s TIME...

Design changes are done in Fedora
...multiple systems with different required procedures overlapping for some time now. I don't blame anyone in CentOS-land for the breakage - I'm sure it eats some of your time too. But, is there anything that could help automate a transition? Are there tricks buried inside the automated 6x-7x upgrade tool that could be separated out to help build a working-but-parallel 7x system to test before cutting over? How are others dealing with the end of freenx and the inability of x2go to run gnome3? That's 'almost' a uniquely CentOS issue because freenx was so easy on CentOS5/6....

Asus L1N64 - a good candidate for a ZFS based home server?
This Asus board looks promising, assuming the parts (nForce 680a chipset) are Solaris friendly: http://www.asus.com.tw/products4.aspx?l1=3&l2=136&l3=486&model=1530&modelmenu=2 The board boasts 12 (!) SATA2 ports. The FX-7x series CPUs appear to be a very cost effective ($799) 4 core solution. Ian
