hacking grub to control number of retained kernels.
I've recently had this problem on two C7 systems, wherein when doing "yum update", I get a warning about /boot being low on space. both systems were installed using the partition size recommended by Anaconda, right now "df -h" shows /boot as 494M, with 79M free. I don't store unrelated crap on /boot, I assume that yum and/or grub will manage it for me. So, why, after over a year, is it running low on space on two different systems? Is there some location in /boot where junk piles up, but shouldn't, that I have to know about so I can clean i...

Avoiding mounting other installation's partitions and volumes
OSes: CentOS 5.0 x86, CentOS 4.5 x86. Hi, I have CentOS 5.0 x86 installed on an IDE HDD. [john at localhost ~]$ df -h Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/mapper/VolGroup00-LogVol00 224G 8.5G 204G 4% / /dev/hdc1 99M 16M 79M 17% /boot tmpfs 506M 0 506M 0% /dev/shm I want to install CentOS 4.5 x86 on another hard disk, but from my past experience, when using one installation, it also automounts the logical volumes etc of the other installation during boot. How can I avoid this?

[LLVMdev] Recompiling llvm+clang how-to?
Hello list I have questions about compiling Clang+llvm. I compile as the link below instructs. http://clang.llvm.org/get_started.html I do on Ubuntu 12.04. `time make -j5` prints for about 13 minutes to compile a brand new version of Clang+llvm. And after this I edit some C++ code(clang/tools/driver/driver.cpp) and compiles using the very same makefile which was used above sentence. But this

MeetMe() and dahdi_dummy on an embedded system
I'm playing around with an ALIX 2D2 board (http://www.pcengines.ch/alix2d2.htm). It's a fanless, x86 system using an AMD Geode processor with 256MB of RAM. Also available are two network interfaces, two USB ports and one serial port (no keyboard or VGA). I'm using the Voyage Linux distro, which basically is Debian Lenny optimized for this board. Asterisk 1.6.1.12 runs fine on the
