I have been trying to solve a problem wherby when I boot a cisco 7920 my 7940 seeks a new IP and the dhcpd log shows it released its existing IP. In searching for the solution I notice there were 2 messages on this list in Aug & Sep 2004 which raised the problem, but I could not find any answer was posted. Has anyone solved this please? I was curious to know if anyone has had any luck getting Cisco phones working with Asterisk and chan_skinny? Specifically, a Cisco 7920. If a SIP firmware was available, I'd just use that. It works fine with chan_sccp and 1.6, but my understanding is that chan_sccp does not work with 1.8 yet. My workaround for the moment is a 1.6 VM tied via IAX to my 1.8 box. This will work for now, but it's a lot uglier than I prefer....

From the command line, run: i6comp e -r data1.cab This reassembles the CAB's and unpacks all of the files out of it. You'll need the cmterm-xxxxxxxx.bin and the OS7920.TXT file. Drop these on your tftp server. The phone won't even download the configs unless these 2 files exist. ~jay
