7912G SCCP only?
Mmm...I swear I read somehwere that the 7912G did SIP? Cisco lists it as an SCCP only phone? -- Undocumented Features quote of the moment... "It's not the one bullet with your name on it that you have to worry about; it's the twenty thousand-odd rounds labeled `occupant.'" --Murphy's Laws of Combat

Asterisk and Cisco 7905G or Cisco 7912G
Hi, How well to the Cisco 7905G or Cisco 7912G phone work with Asterisk? Cisco claims both phones do SIP. I was strongly considering Polycom phones. However, it appears to be quite difficult to obtain support or firmware for Polycom phones. On the other hand, I find Cisco is very well supported. Thanks, Adi

Cisco 7912G SIP phone and Asterisk double RTP packets
Hi there, i did some tests with two Cisco 7912G phones (SIP stack) yesterday. With both ethereal and tcpdump listening on the Asterisk-Server's NIC, it came up that all RTP packets were doubled, with some small but almost constant delay (~460 us). The setup is 7912G <--> ASTERISK <--> 7912G The tcpdump output shows RTP traffic...

7912G: Takes the same firmware as 7940/60?
Does anyone know if the 7912G (which the wiki says can do either sccp or sip) uses the 7940/60 sip firmware? I ask this because the only firmware I can seem to find on TAC for the 7912G is sccp, no sip...if it takes it's own firmware and doesn't use 7940/60 firmware, can someone point me to the right location for it?...

Cisco 7912G DST
Hi, a small question.. I'm using NTP to synch our phones with an ntp server, but it seems the Cisco 7912G (with SIP image) does not handle daylight savings time very well? Am I overlooking something or is this a known feature? I'm using GMT+1 and minutes are correct but it doesn't respect DST. SIP software seems to be: v1.02.00(040406A). Cheers, Kristof.

7912G via SIP, looking for comments
Hello, I'm looking for any comments or user experiences from anyone who is using 7912G phones with SIP. Any installation issues? Usability problems? Do the features seem to work, etc...In short, I'm looking for your opinions on how suitable this phone is for an asterisk implementation for approx. 10 users. Next logical question: what other phones would you recommend for a situa...

Cisco 7912 Phones & XML
...g/wiki/view/Cisco+7905%252F7912+IP+Phones states under "SIP Software Limitations" that XML is not supported on this phone. However, my tech data summary of this product states: "In addition, XML applications deliver impressive applications and network data to the Cisco IP Phone 7912G display." Can someone please clear this up for me? best low-bandwidth strategy
Hi, To push voice through a long thin wan (dsl) there are two choices: (1) have the cisco's (7912G) talk g729a to each other (reinvite=yes), or (2) have the cisco's talk to their local * in ulaw (reinvite=no), which talk to each other through a more advanced low-bandwidth codec (ilbc or speex) which is best? (2) would have more latency, wouldn't it? Did I miss a third option? Thanks...

Re: New to Asterisk and a question
...this whole project will be coming out of my personal pocket (I'm part owner of the company, so I can do that and not feel too bad about it. ;) )... Been watching Ebay and saw that Cisco 7940G phones, while expensive, aren't totally out of the question... The next rung down looks ok too (7912G)... Does anyone have any firm objections or praise for these two models? Is there some other make and model that I should look at with similar functionality that may work better with Asterisk? I'm assuming that if the Cisco phones are OK to use, I will have to make them work with SIP?...

Advanced Cisco 7960 Config
Hi all, I have a working (it was a pain) set of Cisco 7960 phones. In order to dial I have to either pick up the handset or select the line and then dial the extension or outside line. How do I configure the dialplan so I can: - Start dialing via the keypad and have the phone automatically go to speaker on the first line? - Give the user dialtone after they dial '9'? A while ago I

Cisco 7905G SIP firmware needed
...where a commercial phone system should be (we're talking 2 or 3 crashes a week) and is still lacking features to make it useful to run an entire setup on (3 way calling, unattended transfer, etc) Unfortunately, I cannot get XML services working for the life of me under the SIP image using the 7912G phones (which are essentially just a 7905 with a built in switch.) The configuration file schema has an option for a services and directory URL, but the phone seems to ignore them. XML services on the other Cisco phones like the 7940 or 7960 work fine with the SIP image (but these phones use a tota...

Asterisk bridging timeout when calling out with SIP phone
I have a Cisco 7912G connected to Asterisk using SIP. When I'm trying to call out via my Fritz! PCI card in a CAPI context the call is not bridged instantly after the called party answers the call. I always have a 2-3 seconds timeout, after the called party answers. This problem just appears, when I'm calling...

Ring Two Extensions Simultaneously with different caller ID values?
Hi All, We're using Asterisk 1.4, and Cisco phones exclusively (mostly the 7961G, but a few 7911Gs and one 7912G for the time being-all running the SIP firmware image, plus a few analog extensions until the next capital funding cycle). Each user has a phone at his or her desk, but there are also a growing number of "common area" phones (hallway, kitchen, conference rooms, data center, etc), and our...

I recently got a 7905G w/ Sip software preloaded. I got it working w/ asterisk with no problem setting it up through the phone. I am now trying to make it download the config file from the tftp server. I have set all of the options in the file and the file is definately named correctly. But the phone is simply not processing the config file for some reason. Two commands Im trying to get
