...Mhz and 128-256 MB RAM machines. My curiosity is not about what machine I
need to start using * to support live comm ops. Rather, I want to know if a
couple of dinosaurs that I have in the corner can be used to do some learning.
I have a Pentium 133Mhz 16MB RAM box with PCI bus, and a Pentium 75Mhz 32MB
RAM box with PCI bus. Will these boxes work for back-to-back experimentation
with PRI in this configuration?:
POTS phone-----[ * ]---PRI---[ * ]---POTS phone
I assume that I'll need to get a couple line cards and a couple T1 cards.
Thx,

Re: Open source IP phone, maybe?
Hi!
I think it is a great idea.
The DS80C400 needs external memory, and/or flash. It have the Ethernet
integrated, but it is really slow (it is 8051 architecture), and yes, I
know it can go up ti 75Mhz, but only gives 18MIPS max. I would use
ATmega128 from atmel (16MIPS at only 16Mhz), take a look at:
http://www.ethernut.de (project using mega128 with Ethernet, includes
schematics).
It can, in fact (personal experience) give about 0.7 instructions per
clock cycle (media). About 11MIPS @ 16...

isoMDS vs. other non-metric non-R routines
Dear useRs,
last week I asked you about a problem related to isoMDS. It turned
out that in my case isoMDS was trapped. Nonetheless, I still have
some problems with other data sets. Therefore I would like to know if
anyone here has experience with how well isoMDS performs in
comparison to other non-metric MDS routines, like Minissa.
I have the feeling that for large data sets with a high

SmartPhone ARM
Hello Greg
If money isn't a problem Intel has an optimized compiler for eVC and XScale
processors
http://www.intel.com/software/products/compilers/techtopics/PCA_Optimization_WP.pdf
If you have any luck getting the eVC compiler closer to realtime I'd really
like to know. I'm still far from realtime when using Speex 1.1.3 on a HP
iPAQ (Intel pxa255).
Best regards

Boot loader problems and some tests
Hello guys!
I tested several boot loaders (
- windos 95 boot loader (works)
- Smart Boot Manager (sbm)
- syslinux (some versions)
- grub1
- netbsd on the g4u boot-cd
- lilo
)
on a old pc machine.
You can find my problems and results at [0].
What is really strange for me is that syslinux worked once, but
not anymore.
Perhaps you can give me you comment on

...ting the output of a linux gcc cross-compiler to convert
into something the assembler under eVC would consume.
It errors on all the MAC type of instructions. I looked at www.arm.com (I
never knew there could be so many arms)
It does not look like the ARM720 has the MAC instructions. It also lists
75Mhz and 100Mhz as possible frequencies.
(I'm still hoping for 100 :-)
I have started to look at reducing complexity by removing all perceptual
filters in the encoder.
It sounds ugly but my fallback is GSM 610.
I'm open to any other ideas to cut CPU at the expense of quality.

Any way to boot a CD if no BIOS support & CD-ROM is not 100% standard?
...e standard resources
and they must be manually entered for SBM to see the drive, but, I
haven't been able to figure out what these settings are if that's true
because nothing works.
If it helps any to know the model of the laptop, it's an ancient
Toshiba Satellite Pro 405CS, which is a 75MHz Pentium. The CD-ROM is
placed internally in a slot which is also able to double for an
internal floppy drive (I think it originally came without a CD-ROM and
the floppy internal, but, when I got it used it had an external case
for the floppy that plugs into a little connector and the CD-ROM was

Multiple Internet Connection, established connection dropping issues
...I wanted to replace the
Linux Router Kernel with mine, but seem to run into problems mounting
the root file system. Errors and problems for another list. If the
version of my kernel is the problem or if I need Julian''s patches that
is the route I will take. Also if it matters I am using a 75mhz pentium
with 24mb ram. Using a 16 mb ram disk, with 8mb left over to use for
memory. It seems to screem, but my gc may be delayed by the processor
not being able to keep up?

Nat Traversal help!
Hello All,
I have a number of X-Lite users in countries where the incumbent Telco will
do anything to block VOIP traffic.
For some reason neither the X-Lite broadband or dialup clients would
register with my server unless we configure them to use the Xten Xtunnels
demo server. Once the Client has registered the call quality is great! The
problem is the Xtunnels does not support other IP Hard
