[LLVMdev] Signed NaNs in APFloat arithmetic
FYI, I was looking at the SSE/AVX codegen here: http://llvm.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=20578 If LLVM starts caring about FP exceptions, even this won't be possible. Is there a way of doing an IEEE-754 fneg in C/C++? Ie, there's no fneg() in libm, so any C method we choose could cause an exception, and that's not allowed by the IEEE definition of fneg. CentOS 6.10 Boot Xorg Issues with Kernels 2.6.32-754
Hello, Ever since I updated my CentOS 6 machine from 6.9 to 6.10 Xorg will not start with the 2.6.32-754 kernels. Instead the computer will reboot. This issue does not exist with the 2.6.32-696.30.1 kernel from CentOS 6.9 that I still have on my system. Has anyone else encountered this issue, and if so, how did you rectify it? Thank you for any help. Brian Bernard

IEEE_754 logic
Can anybody of the architects of R enlighten me about the reasoning behind the selection of the IEEE 754 mode for the building of R, please? Special points of interest are: 1. The selection seems to be based on the availability of isnan() and finite(). Is this a common way to test for IEEE 754? 2. The C9x draft introduces isfinite() instead of finite() (and as I see, some systems, e.g. the macin...

The most efficient way to implement an integer based power function pow in LLVM

IEEE 754 pow() is supposed to be correctly rounded, but (x*x)*x has an extra rounding step. pow( ) is not supposed to be correctly rounded. IEEE 754 recommends that a correctly rounded power function exist [9.2], but does not recommend or require that this be the default pow( ) function. [Note: it was not...

CentOS 6.10 Boot Xorg Issues with Kernels 2.6.32-754

I have a Dell Laptop that on bootup of kernel 2.6.32-754.3.5.el6.x86_64 will display a white square in the upper left corner of the screen and halt.? If I roll back to the 2.6.32-696.30.1.el6.x86_64 version kernel all is well. More info at 0015186: Cannot boot with kernel-2.6.32-754.3.5.el6.x86_64 - CentOS Bug Tracker | | | | | | | | | | |...
