Can R do rts (Regular Time Series) like S-Plus?
Dear readers,
S-Plus have a rts function (Regular Time Series), which is used like so:
fveks<-read.csv('http://louise.hoffman.googlepages.com/veks.csv',header=TRUE,sep=',')
attach(fveks)
acf(ts.intersect(rts(HC.f),rts(Ta.f),rts(GR.f),rts(W.f)))
Warning the csv file is 750kB.
Can the same be done in R?
Lots of love =)

linux 2 linux transfer very slow
...down but as I don't use it
very much it was not a PB (NO conf changes.)
Today I made this test on CLI:
mount -t cifs //svr/myshare /mnt/ -o username=myuser,password=mypw,ro
then:
cp /mnt/films/20090911_0025_footage.avi . (this one's 2GB)
The speed (measured w/ iptraf) is terribly slow (~750KB/s), so I made
another test: ftp using filezilla: ~7500KB/s (!)
There's nothing special in my conf file, and I've got a line as doc say:
socket options = TCP_NODELAY IPTOS_LOWDELAY SO_RCVBUF=8192 SO_SNDBUF=8192
I really don't understand why there's so much difference between samba...

gluster across internet
I am running a gluster server in ec2 and would like to connect to it
from a server in another DC. It connects fine, but seems really slow.
Any advice for running gluster across a slow link (~750KB/s). I should
add that I have lots of really small files in the share.

Samba slower than FTP?
Hello gurus,
I have samba fileserver 2.0.5a installed on Reliant UNIX 5.44 (Siemens
UNIX). All works fine but now I need to get as much speed from it as it
can provide. I have this UNIX box and an NT 4.0 Server in the same FDDI
ring. When I try to copy an 180 Mb file via FTP to local hard disk the
transfer rate is 1014,16 Kb/sec. But while copying it from the samba
share to the same location by
