Calling Data frame objects with spaces in their names
Hello I have the following data frame which I read from an EXCEL file, and when i try to call one of its columns with a space in their names I am not being able to. For example if I do EURODOLLAR$ED1.Comdty Date I obtain the following error: Error: inesperado símbolo en "EURODOLLAR$ED1.Comdty Date" I have also tried using . or _ instead of the space and have obtained no succes. How do I

Hi how can print x-axis labels in 45 degree in boxplot() (or plot in general)? I can use las=2 to print in 90 degree, but it looks ugly. Is there a simple option to do 45 degree easily? Thanks John

embedding fonts in eps files
Hi, I have to make eps files with fonts embedded. I use the following postscript command: postscript("fig3a.eps", width = 5.2756, height = 7.27, pointsize = 7,horizontal = FALSE, onefile = FALSE, paper = "special",family = "Times") plot(...) dev.off() Are fonts automatically embedded in this way? How can I see that? If not, how to do it? regards, Rudi.

Words appear to be bolded in the PDF output
Hi all, I have written a note near each of my graphs using mtext. mtext(text,side=1,line=4,cex=0.5,adj=0) Then I have exported the graphs as a PDF file. pdf(file=name,paper='a4',width=7.27,height=10.69) The mtext appears OK in R. But it looks like it is bolded in the PDF file. http://n4.nabble.com/file/n2016971/graph.png I am not sure if this is actually my monitor/computer's

subset question
I have a data set p1982, its structure is the following Then I take 20 observations from this dataset, and assign to pr. in p1982, p has 1982 levels, in dataset pr, p should have 1 levels. But I do str(pr), it shows that p still has 1982 levels. also for these > pr$aa [1] ARG THR ASP CYS TYR ASN VAL ASN ARG ILE ASP THR THR ALA SER CYS LYS THR ALA LYS Levels: ALA ARG ASN ASP CYS GLN

[RFC] Add IR level interprocedural outliner for code size.
Hi Andrey, Questions and feedback are very much welcome. - The explanation as to why the improvements can vary between the IR and MIR outliner mainly boil down to the level of abstraction that each are working at. The MIR level has very accurate heuristics and is effectively the last post ISel target independent code gen pass. The IR outliner on the other hand has more estimation in the cost

Is my data set too large
I have a data set like this. I want to do glm, but I get this error: Error in model.matrix.default(mt, mf, contrasts) : cannot allocate vector of length 932889958 I am wondering if my data set is too large or I did something wrong. Is there some limitation for data size for R? thanks, Aimin > p1982<- read.csv("p_1982_aa.csv") > names(p1982) [1] "p"

R-beta: Problems with graphics on postscript
I am using R-0.62.1 on FreeBSD-2.2.5. In R-0.61.3 I wrote the following R-script to produce postscript-output with logarithmic diagram: postscript("Test.PS", paper="a4", width=10.7, height=7.27, pointsize=10) plot(c(1:100), c(1:100), ann=FALSE, log="y", xlim=range(1:100), ylim=range(1:100)) lines(c(1:100), rep( 1,100), lty=2, col="Gray") lines(c(1:100),

home directory server performance issues
I?m looking for advice and considerations on how to optimally setup and deploy an NFS-based home directory server. In particular: (1) how to determine hardware requirements, and (2) how to best setup and configure the server. We actually have a system in place, but the performance is pretty bad---the users often experience a fair amount of lag (1--5 seconds) when doing anything on their home

rotating axis / mtext labels
Hello list. Is it possible to use par(srt=45) to rotate text by 45 degrees along the x-axis of a plot. Using: <code> x_names<-c("C57 Nv", "C57 Vacc", "129 Nv", "129 Vacc", "IFNgR Nv", "IFNgR Vacc") par(srt=45) mtext(font=2, x_names, side=1, line=1, at=l, cex=1.2) par(srt=0) </code> doesn't seem to work in R 2.2.0

axis scaling problem
On the attached figure, I had to use ylim (0,3) to have enough space for the labels to be plotted. However, the values on the y-axis are never bigger than 1, so the axis labeling does not make much sense. Can I only get y-axis tick marks at 0 and 1 but still have the additional plotting space for the labels? Thanks Andreas -- -------------------------- Andreas Zankl, MD Division of
